Children's Summer Preschool Coordinator

TPC Kids Ministries – Toronto, Ontario

Department: Congregational Life

Reports to: Children's Pastor

Status: Full Time (May to August 2024)

Position Overview:

The Children's Summer Preschool Coordinator will provide leadership and administration for The Peoples Church Children's Sunday morning preschool program (2 years old to 5 years old). They will also assist in our summer day camp program and all summer events for children.

The Children's Summer Preschool Coordinator will involve managing volunteers, teaching age-appropriate curriculum, and working in a team environment.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Define summer internship and program goals
  • Prepare and implement programming for children 5 years old and under
  • Give leadership to the Sunday morning teachers
  • Prepare summer teacher schedules for the Sunday preschool program
  • Understand and adapt Bible age appropriate curriculum
  • Lead large and small group Sunday teaching time
  • Assist and support in preparation and implementation of summer day camp
  • Assist and support all children's ministries summer events
  • Lead elementary volunteer team of summer day camp
  • Recruit and assist with interview process for new volunteers
  • Assist with training summer volunteers
  • Monitor safety procedures as they pertain to the supervision of children
  • Maintain an atmosphere for developing good morale and healthy mentorship
  • Other duties as assigned by Children's Pastor

Qualifications:

  • Deep growing personal faith in Jesus Christ
  • Support the Statement of Faith of The Peoples Church
  • A passion to help all children discover Jesus
  • Minimum 2 years working experience with children
  • Proven ability to lead others
  • Strong communication, time management and organization skills
  • Ability to plan, develop, organize and carry out camp programs effectively
  • Creative thinker, who is a team player with a positive attitude
  • First Aid/CPR Training Preferred

Working Conditions:

  • Vulnerability Sector clearance required
  • Interacts with others (children, parents, volunteers, staff) regularly
  • Full time – Sundays included
  • Some remote work may be required
  • Support and understand Shared mandate and Statement of Faith
