Position Title: ECE - Toddler room

Reports to: Principal

Compensation Package: We offer a comprehensive compensation package including: Health and Dental Benefits plan available after 3 months of employment, vacation time, and wellness days are available. Training and development opportunities available annually.

Hours of Work: 7.5 hours per day, Monday – Friday, must be available within the hours of 7am – 6pm; rotating

THE ORGANIZATION

The Montessori Country School is located in Nobleton, York Region, Ontario, Canada, and is a fully-licensed childcare centre, registered private school and accredited Montessori school, which provides programs for children ages 18 months to 12 years of age. Through the Montessori Country School – Nobleton, children receive care designed to help them develop their academic, emotional and social skills, and grow the foundations they will need to succeed in life. Our vision is to make every customer experience easy, efficient and enjoyable.

THE ROLE

The RECE Teacher is responsible providing classroom support as required, by educating, stimulating, influencing and caring for the children. Their principle responsibilities include: maintaining a high quality environment, assessing, observing and caring for the individual needs of every child, educating students in accordance to the designated curriculum model for their age group, maintaining open and honest lines of communication between parents and team members and always exemplifying professionalism.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Up-to-date First Aid and CPR
  • Up-to-date Immunization and 2-tiered TB test
  • Montessori experience is an asset but not required
  • Passion for working with students ages 18 months through 12 years
  • Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport with students and staff
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to work outdoors for at least 2 hours daily year-round; may be exposed to heat, humidity or cold.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Criminal Reference Check (current within 6 months of start date) Job offers are contingent upon the successful completion of a Police Records Check. Within the first four months and every three years thereafter, a Vulnerable Police Records Check is required

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support classroom needs by providing optimal physical, cognitive, social and emotional wellbeing of the student in her/his care.
  • Provides quality care to all students in a licensed educational environment (licensed under CCEYA and OFIS)
  • Works cooperatively as a team member, encourages others to do likewise and consistently maintains a positive attitude.
  • Takes initiative in completing tasks without direction
  • Directs and participates with students in all planned activities.
  • Effectively supervises students on all scheduled school walks, field trips and other outings.
  • Maintains confidentiality of clients, co-workers and the School as appropriate.
  • Is sensitive to parent's needs and maintains a supportive relationship with them on a professional level
  • Complies with the Child Care Early Years Act and all MCS policies
