About the Role

As the Director of Engineering for the Interchain team at Informal Systems, you will oversee and set the direction for our technical initiatives, ensuring our solutions exceed industry benchmarks. In this role, you will shape our engineering culture, drive our development efforts, and nurture a talented team to craft state-of-the-art solutions within the Cosmos ecosystem and the broader blockchain industry. You will collaborate closely with our senior leadership and lead, mentor, and grow our engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.

What your primary responsibilities will be:

• Oversee architectural decisions, ensure best practices, and maintain a robust and innovative engineering culture.
• Ensure the quality, security, and scalability of our blockchain solutions.
• Work closely with product, research, and business teams to ensure alignment and timely delivery from engineering, balancing short-term execution with long-term R&D.
• Manage and oversee organizational processes and best practices within the technical teams
• Coach, mentor, nurture, and grow a high-performing team

What we look for in a successful Director of Engineering:

• Proven experience designing, building, and scaling complex software systems and teams.
• Deep knowledge and understanding of one or more of the following areas: distributed systems, networking protocols, cryptography protocols and/or blockchain systems
• 10+ years of software engineering and/or engineering management experience with a track record in large-scale distributed systems (experience working within blockchain/Cosmos projects is preferred)
• 5+ years in a leadership role, managing and scaling engineering teams.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse and distributed team.
• Excellent leadership and management skills.
• Strong organizational and planning skills.
