Eavor Technologies Inc. is seeking a high performing, experienced Geoscientist for the Calgary office location. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will use your technical expertise, initiative, and problem-solving skills to support the commercial implementation of the world's first closed-loop geothermal system. This hybrid role is based in Calgary, Alberta, requiring local and international travel based on business needs.

Role Summary

Reporting to the Senior Geologist in Eavor's North American Development team, the Geologist will work as part of a multidisciplinary team driving the development of Eavor-Loop™ projects. The successful candidate will manage and deliver the geoscientific evaluation in the feasibility assessment stage, through project development and execution programs. They will be expected to manage and participate in related subsurface data acquisition, research, and studies. The Senior Geologist will provide input and recommendations for drilling engineering and well design processes.

Some of What you Will Do:

  • Characterization of the subsurface, including structural and stratigraphic features using area tectonic history, publication research, surface geologic mapping, borehole (cuttings, core, and log) data, seismic and non-seismic methods (2D seismic, 3D seismic, gravity, magnetics, passive seismic) and seismicity observations.
  • Development of 2-3D geologic models and prognosis.
  • Determine rock physical properties feeding thermal and geomechanical models through research, calculation, and interpretation of sample lab analysis.
  • Performing thermal modelling and aspects of geomechanical modelling evaluation.
  • Contribute to uncertainty and risk analysis based on the geologic models created at each project phase and provide recommendations for reducing uncertainty and mitigating risk in conjunction with engineering and surface evaluation staff.
  • Contributing lessons learned and collaborating with Eavor's Global Business Units.
  • Interpretation in AspenTech SKUA-GOCAD™ and Geolog™ along with QGIS software environments.

Some of What you Will Need:

  • Software proficiency in 2D&3D geologic modelling, GIS, and MicrosoftTM office suite
  • Field work experience
  • Exploration geology experience
  • Petrophysical log interpretation
  • Geophysical interpretation of gravity, magnetics, magnetotelluric and seismic data
  • Experience interpreting in highly structures, tectonically complex environments
  • Ability to work with vary amounts, quality and vintages of source data to build a geologic model
  • Proficiency in research, data collection, manipulation and data management
  • Experience with mineralogic, geochemical and geomechanical lab analysis
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills
  • Hard rock or geothermal project experience
  • Experience with drilling operations
  • Performing geologic field sample acquisition and analysis, involving designing and leading field trips for sample acquisition. This includes physical capability of hiking with sample acquisition equipment.
  • Generate and deliver technical work report and presentation packages for feasibility, development and post development study phases.
  • Geoscience Professional Designation (APEGA or equivalent)
  • Bachelors or masters degree in geoscience
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship
  • 5 years + work experience as a geoscientific professional
  • Display a high EQ with a proven track record of productive work in a high paced multi-national environment.
  • Self starter / proactive / creative thinker / consistently delivers on time.
