Position Summary
The Neurology Registered Veterinary Technologist (RVT) is empowered and responsible to act as a
highly-trained RVT on the clinical floor to set an example of patient care, client care, and teamwork at
Pulse Veterinary Specialists & Emergency.
The Neurology RVT will report to the Lead Specialty RVT and work closely with Dr. Smith to deliver high
level patient care.

This role will allow for a compressed work week with four 10-hour shifts, Monday through Thursday.
Duties and Responsibilities
 Performs all technical responsibilities of a RVT including:
o Usage and care of medical equipment, as well as sterilization techniques.
o Placing IV catheters; calculating drug doses, fluid requirements and CRIs.
o Understanding and performing anesthesia, post-anesthetic recovery of patients.
o Use of anesthetic ventilator and multiparameter monitors.
o Acquire high quality MRI and radiographic images
o Performing CPR.
o Collection and submission of various laboratory samples for testing.
o Assisting in surgeries.
o Managing hospitalized patients, performing recovery care and additional specialized
treatments.
o Substantial client communication is required.
o Obtaining patient history and transferring pertinent information into the medical record.
o Continuous follow-up with patients and clients due to the chronic disease caseload.
 Help manage department schedule, including consults, rechecks and procedures.
 Provides education and home care instructions to clients.
 General supervision of Technologist Assistant (TA) team members.
 Supports management of customer complaints as required in partnership with the Lead Specialty
RVT and Hospital Manager, interacting with clientele to deescalate, resolve, and/or escalate
issues in a timely fashion.
 Maintains practice software including client and patient record management.
 Follows all SOPs to support smooth hospital operations.
 Follows all federal and provincial animal health laws and regulations regarding workplace health
and safety.
 Option to participate in on-call rotation for out of hours emergencies.
 Openly and proactively communicates updates to DVMs, Lead Specialty RVT and other
department team members. Prioritize interdepartmental synergy by maintaining open lines of
communication with other departments.
Other duties may be assigned as required.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
Education and Experience
 Animal Health Technology college diploma.
 Registered member of the ABVMA.
 Experience in the care and management of anesthetized patients.
 MRI training will be provided to the successful applicant.
