Job Title: Systems EngineerJob ID: PL939188630Location: North Vancouver, BCOverview:Our client's Engineering & Planning Team has an immediate requirement for one (1) Systems Engineer for 12 months. The Systems Engineer will support the Change Management team at the client's shipyards. The role will focus on development of multi-discipline Enterprise Change Requests. The position reports to the Principal Systems Engineer, under the Senior Director, Engineering & Planning. The successful candidate will need to work 100% onsite at their 2 Pemberton office. Candidates from Lower Mainland will be ideal. What you will be doing:
  • Administer project and technical requirements
  • Develop Enterprise Change Requests (ECR's), and undertake system/sub-system design and implementation, including:
  • Define and manage interfaces at system and sub-system boundaries.
  • Perform systems integration.
  • Plan systems qualification, including higher level tests and trials.
  • Assist with problem solving and resolution of technical issues.
  • Work with Systems Engineering team, to develop candidate concepts and conduct trade studies to aid decision support.
  • Review the impact of contract change requirements and assess impacts from a project and commercial perspective.
  • Support the negotiation and resolution of Contract Change Proposals with Customers Other duties as assigned.
  • Have sound engineering estimating experience to coordinate with internal teams to provide an overall cost and schedule estimate to execute ECR's.
What you must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline.
  • 10 or more years of experience in Systems Engineering, preferably with knowledge of ship/maritime systems.
  • Relevant experience and strong technical background may substitute education degree requirement.
  • Professional Engineer, Incorporated Engineer or Engineer in Training designation with a recognized, accredited institution required.
  • Experience with subcontractor technical management is an asset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, combined with strong business acumen.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across a multi-disciplined team.
  • Critical thinker with the ability to analyze change requests, projects, and designs to anticipate schedule or budget risk.
  • A lateral thinker who can relate to broader business issues. Takes an active interest in the business.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • A positive, goal-oriented individual with a sense of urgency.
  • Sets high standards and can manage both detail as well as big picture issues.
