Birla Carbon is currently recruiting for a Plant Accountant to join our Accounting Team. The Plant Accountant, under the direction of the Controller, will be responsible for accounting activities at the plant, production tracking, spare parts, customer product and asset inventories.

Responsibilities:

  • Entering Production data, repour entries, oil data tracking and receipt, oil receipt report, DT analysis, packaging receipts Daily reports to the General Manager
  • Assist with cost standard setting process, physical inventories, and audits
  • Designs, plans, and implements regular physical inspections, weekly bulk inventory measurements, monthly cycle counts, and quarterly physical counts of all raw materials, finished goods, spare parts, packing supplies, and fixed assets consistent with our policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.
  • Prepares and reconciles general account ledgers, journal vouchers, and balance sheet accounts to required local and corporate standards.
  • Evaluates, maintains and analyses inventory databases for discrepancies and reconciles accordingly.
  • Identifies inventory for disposition and assists with scheduling of same; including the preparation and staging of re-pour schedules on a daily basis.
  • Reconciles, verifies, updates, and adjusts inventory databases to sub-ledgers.
  • Utilizes inventory information to reconcile, verify, update, and adjust product routings, and bills of material.
  • Develops, prepares, implements, and maintains inventory control procedures.
  • Provide coverage to AP and other plants for the production and oil receipts
  • Prepares all required inventory reports to meet the needs of our internal and external accounting customers, including Corporate.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting or similar area of study
  • 2-3 years' experience (manufacturing experience is considered an asset)
  • SAP Knowledge is considered an asset
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel etc.)
