What Are We Looking For?

Position Overview

Reporting to the Director, Finance and Operations at Inn from the Cold (The INN) oversees maintenance and janitorial, supply distribution, facility management and oversees the appropriate storage and disposal of records, in compliance with operational needs at The INN's various sites. The Operations Lead is the key liaison with landlords, property managers, inspectors, contractors, and other external stakeholders.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee ongoing operations and maintenance of The INN's facilities
  • Main point of contact and liaison for NEOMA building / facility partnership with HomeSpace and with the kitchen site, warehouse and parking landlords, community police and fire liaisons.
  • Main point of contact for inspectors and contractors, ensuring they are supervised during time on site
  • Manage facility issues, implement best practices to offer solutions
  • Conduct regular walk throughs of all INN facilities – to note and address maintenance needs, safety issues, potential security risks
  • Serve as tenant liaison/landlord function for The INN's affordable housing clients at our Journey House apartment building
  • Manage transportation requirements, including INN vehicles used for Kitchen and warehouse deliveries
  • Coordinate Records Management efforts for The INN, ensuring storage, transportation and shredding of confidential files is in compliance with operational needs and requirements from contracts and legislation
  • Participate in development and review of policies and procedures relating to the Operations area, including: maintenance, janitorial and caretaking, Kitchen operations, distribution and safety services

This position description reflects the general duties of the role, but is not intended to include all duties that may be inherent in the position. The Operations Lead may be asked to perform other duties as required or assigned.

What You Bring to Our Mission

  • Post secondary education in a related field, applicable trainings and certifications
  • Experience in staff supervision is required.
  • Experience in building operations and maintenance is preferred.
  • Experience in project and team management is an asset.
  • Trades experience is an asset (e.g. carpentry, plumbing, electrical)
  • Minimum valid Class 5 operator's license, documentation to show at least 3 years of driving experience and insurance history
  • Knowledge of Residential Tenancies Act (RTA) and landlord responsibilities is an asset
  • Familiarity with Alberta Occupational Health & Safety Standards, FOIP and other privacy legislation
