Mainland is hiring! We are looking for an experienced Fuser to join our Energy team.

The Opportunity

The Fuser will be responsible for safely and accurately performing installation, repairs, tests and other tasks related to construction and maintenance of natural gas distribution systems. In addition, ensuring that specified requirements for the fusion procedures are followed.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work safely on a construction site and promote a safe work environment adhering to safety policies and procedures including participation in safety meetings
  • Documenting reports associated with work carried out including field reports, work orders, and pressure test affidavits.
  • Safely and efficiently installing and testing natural gas facilities.
  • Ensure gas lines and equipment are operating properly & be able to test the various gas components.
  • Train other employees and maintain quality results of work
  • Support other crew members on daily site activities outside of job scope

Qualifications, Experience & Skillset

  • Experience with Polyethylene Fusing
  • Gas Pipeline construction experience
  • Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications
  • Able to identify all hazards associated with various aspects of working on Energy projects, as well as correctly communicating safety issues as they arise
  • First aid, confined space, and fall protection training is an asset
  • Good communications ability, able to work with variety of individuals
  • Must be physically fit, able to spend most or all of shift standing, walking, lifting, carrying, and working hands-on in an outdoor environment in all types of weather
  • Flexible with hours worked, including overtime and weekend work as needed
  • Willingness to learn and have a good work ethic
