Salary:

Northland Fleet Services, a member of LaPrairie Group of Companies, provides full turnkey fleet maintenance services for light and heavy-duty equipment to customers across northern British Columbia from their facility in Tumbler Ridge, BC.

We are looking to hire an experienced Controller to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be able to work in one of our three locations: Tumbler Ridge, B.C., Grande Prairie, AB, or Calgary, AB.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the accounting operations for this auto and heavy equipment repair facility: preparation and review of financial statements, review payroll data, accounts payable, accounts receivable (collections) and produce inventory reports for weekly review.
  • Prepare, analyze and present monthly operating results with the manager.
  • Work with manager to review services pricing, costing and margins.
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial information.
  • Maintain year-end working papers and spreadsheets.
  • Complete monthly reconciliation for all bank accounts and JE's.
  • Maintain up-to-date, complete and systematic electronic filing systems to support book-keeping and financial records.
  • Participate if the development, analysis, and interpretation of statistical and accounting information to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organization.
  • Review, prepare and ensure payment of GST, PST and other applicable taxes, as required.
  • Furnish internal reports, revise and update reports to be more useful and efficient, and furnish external reports as necessary.
  • Determine depreciation rates to apply to capitalized items and advise management on desirable operational adjustments due to tax revisions.
  • Provide business owners and CFO with ongoing information to ensure proper insurance coverages are in place for assets, garage policies, buildings.
  • Other related duties as required or assigned.

Requirements:

  • Professional Accounting Designation preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in financial management and accounting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
  • Able to build and maintain great relationships with manager, co-workers and owners.
  • Good organizational, time management skills and attention to detail.
