JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the co-ordination of several company projects, and oversees all aspects of assigned projects from commencement to completion. This includes all planning, communication, scheduling, resource management (materials and labor) as well as ensuring compliance with local or provincial regulators and laws.

JOB RESPONSIBLITIES

  1. General Operational Responsibilities
  • Maintains sound business liaison with all clients, engineers and suppliers.
  • Assists in pre-construction meetings and provides all participants with required information and documents.
  • Communicates and coordinates with General Contractor for project as required.
  • Works closely with company field personnel and office staff to ensure all information is appropriately communicated and project administration runs smoothly. Coordinates the handoff between the estimating department and field personnel to ensure a good project transition.
  • Works with site personnel/Operations Manager to ensure that administration of project schedule is maintained. (E.g. Shop drawings, RFI's, Project changes, Close outs)
  • Co-ordinates all ESA and fire alarm testing for the project.
  • In conjunction with the Senior Estimator/Project Manager, visits job sites regularly and participates in job activities (site meetings, etc.) as needed. Takes pictures of job site progress as it effects electrical work; saves and tags pictures and provides a report on job progress.
  1. Resource (Labor and Materials) Management Responsibilities
  • Co-ordinates all package equipment purchase orders and ensure that the deliveries keep up with and support the construction schedule.
  • Participates in all job meetings, as required.
  1. Planning and Reporting Responsibilities
  • Assists in preparing project and construction schedules.
  • Tracks project actual progress versus planned schedule and reports on variances. Identifies and reports on any issues such as labor shortage, material shortage or delay, changes to schedule, or any issue that has an impact on the project progress. Provides suggestions for resolution of issues.
  • Prepares all documents as necessary for project site personnel/Operations Manager. Communicate project requirements on a regular basis and make any revisions or changes as necessary.
  • Updates weekly company project tracking system (DPTS) and provides monthly site progress reports and pictures to Senior Estimator/Project Manager.
  1. Administrative Responsibilities
  • Accepts ownership and takes over the responsibility for all project documents from the estimating department and prepares all project binders.
  • Maintains all project documents.
  • Issues all shop drawings or studies to clients, suppliers or utilities as required by the contract. Ensure that all information is provided in a timely manner and to each party as necessary.
  • Prepares project manuals and as built to support as necessary.
  • Tracks and follows up on all Change orders, RFI's, Project changes and Shop drawings in accordance with the requirements as set forth in the contract and after consultation with Senior Estimator/Project Manager.
  • Prepares and maintains job close out documents binder on an ongoing basis.
  • Manages job closeout activity to ensure all loose ends are tied up, and all work is complete.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

  • 2-5 years of co-ordinating electrical projects
  • Familiarity with residential, commercial, institutional and light industrial market segments.
  • Strong computer skills, including experience in MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel).
  • Ability to resolve issues
  • Administrative skills including the ability to review and understand various kinds of paperwork.

  • Good verbal communication skills including the ability to relate to various levels up and down the organization as well as with suppliers and customers.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Field and Office position. Must be able to bend, squat, and reach. Must be able to travel to field job site locations, as needed.

  • Expected scheduled completion versus actual scheduled completion.

  • All project documents are accurately maintained.
  • All projects are closed out in a timely manner.
  • All relationships and communications are maintained between Dircam and all clients, vendors, suppliers, sub-contractors, and local officials.
