Salary: $60,000-$70,000 per year

We are currently recruiting a Junior Estimator. The successful candidate will have the ability to work both independently and within a team, have strong communication skills and attention to detail. This full-time role allows the opportunity to grow and develop within the company while being involved in interesting and rewarding construction projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Cost Estimation: Utilize architectural and construction knowledge to accurately estimate project costs including materials, labor, and overhead expenses.
  • Bid Preparation: Assist in preparing bids and proposals for construction projects by gathering relevant data, conducting analysis, and compiling cost estimates.
  • Quantity Takeoffs: Perform quantity takeoffs from project drawings and specifications to determine the quantities of materials required for each project.
  • Vendor Relations: Liaise with vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing for materials and services.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of cost data, bids, and other relevant documentation for future reference and analysis.
  • Cost Analysis: Analyze project costs to identify areas for cost savings or potential risks, and provide recommendations to senior estimators and project managers.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and other team members to ensure accurate and comprehensive project estimates.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated on industry trends, construction methods, and material costs to improve estimating accuracy and efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Architectural Building Technology or related field from an accredited institution, such as the British Columbia Institute of Technology.
  • Strong understanding of construction principles, materials, and methods.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural and engineering drawings.
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in cost estimation.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with team members, vendors, and clients.
  • Proficiency in relevant software applications for estimating and quantity takeoffs (e.g., Bluebeam, Onscreen, Microsoft Excel).
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and industry standards.
  • Previous experience or internships in construction estimating or related roles is a plus but not required.
