Sphere Recruitment Solutions is hiring a Senior Production Manager to join one of the largest manufacturers of hydrogen and nitrogen products.

Reporting to the General Manager the Production Manager will oversee 5 direct reports and 115 indirect reports, necessitating adept communication, leadership skills, and expertise in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of production and shipping facilities.

Major Responsibilities:

• Demonstrates safety leadership by empowering the whole team to enhance the safety culture, creating an environment where all employees are openly engaged in striving towards a zero-incident worksite
• Develops and maintains a working knowledge of corporate, plant and relevant external policies and standards that apply to an operating and shipping facility and ensures compliance with requirements
• Demonstrates a ‘shop floor' presence and leadership visibility, ensuring actions continually reinforcing EHS performance is a core value
• Develop competent and skilled staff able to meet the current and future needs of the Production Department while providing opportunities for High Potential employees
• Ensure all members of the Production Department are given a quality performance review and development plan
• Effectively manage people resources to provide the optimum coverage for continuous safe, efficient operation of the assets

Plant Operations:

• Maintains up-to-date technical knowledge of all aspects of production and shipping operations
• Demonstrates a passion and drive for continuous improvement through optimizing existing assets as well as working closely with the Engineering Department to ensure the right project opportunities are explored
• Develops Production Department budgets (cost, production, efficiency) for the annual budget process and effectively manages production resources to deliver results
• Fosters an effective department relationship with Maintenance to ensure the right things are worked on at the right time to deliver continuously improving reliability
• Assists the General Manager in ensuring effective communication with the corporate Supply Chain and Raw Material Purchasing to ensure inventory and gas availability issues do not adversely impact the ability to meet production targets

Qualifications:

• Graduate with a BSc in Chemical, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering
• 7 to 10 years experience in petrochemical to fertilizer industry
• significant people leading and managerial experience with a strong focus on interpersonal skills
• P.Eng designation or ability to obtain it is essential
