Summary
The Zipline Lead Guide is responsible for motivating and monitoring the Zipline Guide team. WildPlay prides itself on providing superior guest service and this position is intended to ensure that our guest's expectations are exceeded by mentoring the Guide team to go the extra mile. The Zipline Leads are subject matter experts with regards to Zipline operations and they are considered to be the leaders of the team for the day ensuring everything runs smoothly. The Zipline Lead is also intended to act as a point of communication for other functional areas on site.

To excel as a Zipline Lead, you are friendly, positive and energetic. You have strong leadership qualities and enjoy inspiring others. You apply your initiative to a number of tasks and can asses when your team requires assistance.

Responsibilities and Duties
The Zipline Lead Guide is responsible for:

  • Coordinating Zipline Guide staff to effectively operate the park on a daily basis
  • Overseeing the Guide team throughout their day, ensuring that all daily gear inspections, course opening inspections are complete thoroughly, clearly and concisely
  • Ensuring that all guests enjoy safe, positive, enriching experiences
  • Ensuring the security rules are being followed by the guests, and team members, throughout the entire activity
  • Making sure Guides know that support is available and present at all times during their day
  • Ensuring the Guides have had sufficient breaks throughout the day
  • Ensuring that Guides follow the Corrective Measures and Expulsion Protocol
  • Performing regular guiding shifts
  • Assisting in coaching and leading other staff members
  • Assisting in conducting regular equipment inspections
  • Work with the Park Supervisor, and/or Park Manager to learn various components of their role in the park
  • Carrying out other work as directed by Park Management
  • Participating as a positive and proactive member of the WildPlay team

Upon further certification as a member of the Rescue Team, all Lead Guides are responsible for:

  • Performing rescue techniques to the level required in the case of an emergency
  • Providing first aid and carrying out zip line retrieval techniques

Upon further certification as a member of the Tech Team, a select number of Lead Guides are responsible for:

  • Carrying out maintenance tasks on the Zipline system as directed by Element Supervisor, Element Manager, or Park Manager
  • Conducting ongoing equipment inspections and bringing any issues to the attention of a member of the Tech Team or Element Manager

Required Qualifications and Skills
The Zipline Lead Guide must possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Ability to lead a team and motive others;
  • Subject Matter Expert on guiding groups of guests through the Zipline activity
  • Solid understanding of the Zipline schedules as well as a good understanding of the reservation system and the WildPlay policies around refunds, pricing, group discounts etc
  • Proven experience in delivering excellent customer service
  • Ability to consistently deliver high standards of work in outdoor, all-weather conditions including extreme heat, sun, humidity, and temperature change
  • Physical demands include continuously holding, carrying and lifting Zipline equipment, frequent walking/ standing, and frequent bending/ twisting/ kneeling
  • All lifts over 50 lbs. require assistance from a co-worker or the use of a mechanical device
  • Ability to deliver consistent high standards of work outdoors in all weather
  • Unfailing attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must demonstrate good judgment and strong decision-making skills
  • Must be able to act both independently and as a team player
  • A positive attitude and openness to feedback is essential
  • Current standard first aid and CPR-C certification

Preferred Qualifications and Skills
It is desired that the Zipline Lead Guide possesses the following qualifications and skills:

  • Knowledge and experience in adventure recreation (either as a participant or through previous employment experience).
  • First Aid & CPR C Certification

Work Relationships
The Zipline Lead Guide reports directly to the Element Supervisor and is supervised at times by the Element Manager and Duty Manager.

Work Schedule

The Zipline Lead Guide works a flexible schedule of full time and part time work, based on the needs of the business. Includes evenings, weekends, and holidays, when appropriate and beneficial to their job responsibilities.
