Community Engagement Intern - 16 Week Contract (1.0 FTE) – Winnipeg, MB

This role will assist STARS in advancing internal and external event fundraising across STARS' foundation team. The partnership with our individual donors, organizations, businesses, event partners and provincial governments ensures that we have the resources we need to save lives. The funds raised by the STARS are allocated to our Time, Tools and Talent which ensures the success of STARS. For many, STARS is their lifeline.

Is this challenge for you?
Reporting to the Manager, Community Engagement, the Community Engagement Intern will assist with general event support across foundation and will be asked to attend events as needed on a flexible work week, with a willingness to work evenings and weekends.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in Building STARS' presence in the community by fostering new and ongoing relationships with individuals and groups in the communities we serve.
  • Assist in coordinating internal and external event meetings, including preparing agenda, creating, and distributing an invite, taking minutes, and sending out action item requests, where applicable.
  • Connect with local businesses across the province to solicit event prize donations and silent auction items.
  • Liaise with Foundation colleagues to support internal and external fundraising events across the province.
  • Be available for after-hours committee meetings and attending in person events over the weekend.
  • Conduct thank you calls to STARS donors.
  • Assist with data management and entry in volunteer database
  • Take the lead in the assigning volunteers with upcoming events
  • Support the recruitment and screening of new volunteers to the organization
  • Complete any other necessary administrative tasks, such as providing reports on impact of volunteers in organization.

Who are you?

  • New grad or student currently enrolled in a post secondary institution.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a mature, professional, and calm demeanor.
  • Advanced time management skills, ability to thrive with multiple priorities of focus.
  • Experience organizing events and working with volunteers in the community.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Collaboration and teambuilding skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Flexibility and initiative.
