Role

Reporting to the Area Manager, the Commissioning Manager is responsible for facilitating, establishing, and executing plans policies, and construction activities to their assigned projects. This role is responsible for facilitating the implementation of the company's priorities and objectives while coordinating between Area Managers, Project Managers, and his or her's assigned Commissioning Team. The Commissioning Manager will oversee and direct a team of Commissioning Technologists, oversee operations and deliverables of Rising Edge Technologies while establishing long-term relationships with clients and business partners. This role will also focus on the continuous improvement of the company's business model to maximize productivity and growth.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of assigned Commissioning Technologists and client vendors on a client project
  • Primarily a field role, ability to work in remote locations the majority of the time
  • Ability to oversee/supervise multiple projects and commissioning deliverables
  • Ensure all project safety protocols / procedures are followed, and safety standards are met during the planning and execution of Commissioning project phases with the ability to adapt them to the specific needs and unique risks
  • Responsible for the overall assigned Commissioning team, project planning, execution, training and supervision of personnel
  • Responsible for the safe and timely execution of all Commissioning activities and integration of these activities with both Project and Operations
  • Provide technical support to all Area Managers, Project Managers, and Field Staff as required
  • Prepare/Review/Approve test procedures, safety procedures and policies
  • Responsible for managing interfaces with Area Managers, Construction and Commissioning Managers and their respective teams
  • Coordinates with Engineering to ensure that Commissioning and Start-up Engineering deliverables are met
  • Attends site visits, commissioning kick off meetings, training sessions, and provides technical assistance during project execution as required
  • Supervise and work safely alongside all members of the construction crew
  • Lead client meetings, schedules, issue resolutions, and deficiency resolutions for projects
  • Craft proposals for client RFPs and project pricing requests
  • Maintain effective communication with all project participants to ensure projects are being executed on time and within budget
  • Take an active role in coaching all junior staff to ensure developmental needs for the individual and the business are met
  • Assessments, development as well as working with HR on tracking employee development, and completing employee reviews on the assigned Commissioning Team
  • Works closely with the Project Management Team to ensure the requirements for the Commissioning phase are clearly communicated and understood
  • Leads daily and weekly progress review meetings
  • Assisting Area Manager with switching/isolation requirements throughout the province, including completing the required assessments on other employees
  • Availability to provide vacation coverage for other leads, Commissioning and Construction managers during peak project times
  • Provide feedback to Area Manager on resource needs and shortages. Assist with completing interviews and recruitment efforts
  • Coordination of manpower and resources with other commissioning managers to execute projects

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited post-secondary institution or Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Field Testing and Commissioning
  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience
  • 5 to 10 years experience in Utility and/or Industrial sectors
  • Competent with computer software and operation
  • Qualified Switchman, GOI/LOTO Holder and EB&G
  • Time management skills, multitasking skills and the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Dedicated team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to work within strict deadlines
  • Demonstrate a willingness to work safely and show concern for environmental, health and safety issues in the workplace
  • Must have the ability to work in adverse weather conditions and have a valid Class 5 driver's license
  • Able to work comfortably at heights
  • Willing to work out of town and on rotation as required per project basis
  • Willing to work outside of working hours and schedules to support team as required
  • Willing to work on-call as required by project basis
