Currently seeking an Intermediate Design Technologist for our office in Abbotsford, BC. The Intermediate Design Technologist would provide technical support in conducting research, preparing design and technical drawings and assisting with field reviews for a variety of building types and complexity that focus on residential, commercial and light industrial projects. They are an integral part of the design and production teams and an important link between the building design concept and the completed construction.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assist in the development of building design projects.
  • Analyze building codes, site requirements and other technical documents and reports.
  • Prepare sketches, CAD drawings and outline specifications.
  • Coordinate with other consultants, clients and contractors throughout the project.
  • Perform periodic site visits and reporting.
  • Contribute to planning applications and other regulatory application procedures.
  • Assess what surveys are required before commencement of work and ensure such surveys are undertaken and results fed into the project.
  • Facilitate design process and coordinate design with other in-house design disciplines.
  • Liaise with approving authorities when producing documentation for regulatory approval.
  • Administer contracts and project certifications.

Qualifications:

  • Degree/Diploma in Building Design, Architectural Drafting or related programs.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant commercial work experience.
  • Demonstrable working experience in Revit.
  • Knowledge of building technology and local codes.
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills
  • Excellent time management and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently within an integrated, team environment.
