A. PURPOSE AND SCOPE

Under the direction of the Director of Niigaaniin Services or another appointed person, the Marketing Specialist is responsible for the marketing strategies under Niigaaniin Services and ensuring it aligns with the Niigaaniin Vision.

The Marketing Specialist will liaison with both the Director and Management Team to market programs, services and events going on along the North Shore and within the Robinson Huron Treaty Territory.

The role requires an enthusiastic marketing professional who is a strategic thinker, relationship builder, planner, and implementer.

B. QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements:

A post-secondary education in Communications and Marketing and/or Two years progressively responsible experience in Communications and Marketing, preferably with a First Nation in social services. Other combinations of experience and education, which meet the minimum requirements, may be substituted.

  • It is preferred for the applicant to be a registered band member of the First Nations serviced by Niigaaniin Services, including Batchewana First Nation, Garden River First Nation, Thessalon First Nation, Mississauga First Nation, Serpent River First Nation, Sagamok Anishnawbek, Atikameksheng Anishnawbek, and Wahnapitae First Nation,
  • Must have a clear Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Peoples Sector Check applicable to the responsibilities of this position, and
  • Must have a valid Class “G” Driver's License.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and understanding of Anishnaabemowin, culture and traditions of Indigenous people of the Robinson Huron Treaty,
  • All candidates must be able to work with a diverse population,
  • Familiar with community services networks and knowledge the Niigaaniin Services would be an asset,
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, Photo Shop, Canva and other multimedia software,
  • Proven strategic marketing planning and implementation experience including media relations, government affairs, community relations and event management,
  • Previous experience working in a fast pace, multi-level, project-based environment with emphasis on timelines and delivery,
  • Requires minimum supervision, able to work independently and maintains a supportive and cooperative environment with colleagues and the communities,
  • Excellent teamwork skill to collaborate with management teams and leads of programs and services,
  • Ability in managing and implementing media strategies,
  • Exceptionally strong writing and project management skills,
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills,
  • Excellent observation skills and strong attention to detail,
  • Proven ability to make critical decisions independent without supervision,
  • Ability to work closely and cooperatively with internal and external partners, and
  • Experience or certification in flying a drone would be an asset.
