ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT:
The Data Developer, Engineer role is to design, plan, implement, coordinate, architect, monitor, and maintain our robust data architecture to support the organization's data needs. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining a data architecture blueprint for the organization. This individual will oversee testing of the interoperability of data modules under development in-house, commercial off-the-shelf software, and external third party software.
MAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design and implement scalable and efficient data architectures to support business requirements
  • Develop and maintain data models, schemas, and structures for optimal performance
  • Manage and optimize databases to ensure high performance and reliability
  • Implement data security measures and enforce data privacy policies
  • Orchestrate integration projects and corresponding strategies between business units and development teams
  • Design and implement Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes to move and transform data between systems
  • Ensure that integration projects meet business requirements and goals, fulfill end-user requirements, and identify and resolve data synchronization issues
  • Integrate data from various sources to provide a unified and accurate view of the organization's data
  • Collaborate with teams to understand data integration requirements and implement effective solutions
  • Research and make recommendations on integration products and services in support of procurement and development efforts
  • Collaborate with project resources and stakeholders in the testing of newly integrated software programs and applications
  • Liaise with internal and 3rd party software developers and engineers to address issues with data integrations or bridges
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for data architecture, databases, and data processes
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data processing and storage
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand and address data quality issues
  • Ensure the collection and coherent interpretation of the various business processes affected by integration efforts
  • Work diligently to enhance or improve business processes via integration or, as necessary, minimize the impact of integration on those processes
  • Evaluate results of integration projects, then report and make recommendations based on findings
  • Where necessary, provide guidance to junior members of the team
  • Other duties as assigned by the Manager, IT Development
REQUIREMENTS:
  • College diploma or University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • 5+ years of direct experience working with enterprise-level applications and integrated business systems (EAM, ERP, MRP, EGIS, HRIS, timekeeping, etc)
  • Extensive experience with at least two different computing platforms, operating systems, database technologies, programming languages and communication protocols
  • Proven experience as a Data Developer, Database Developer, or a similar role
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and database management systems
  • Experience with data modeling, API's (Application Programming Interface) and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) tools
  • Experience with reporting tools such as SQL Server Reporting Service, Power BI
  • Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark)
  • Familiarity with data governance, compliance, data security and privacy best practices
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Understanding of enterprise business processes
  • Knowledge of cloud-based data solutions (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Programming skills in languages like JavaScript, .NET, CSS, AWS, RPG, Perl
