About the Role

In this new role, the Field Service Representative will be based out of our Victoria Office.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform design document review for constructability and industry compliance.
  • Complete site reviews for construction progress and drawing compliance
  • Attend project meetings as required
  • Review and issue construction and project administration documents (Electrical Site Instructions, Electrical Contemplated Change Notices and RFI's)
  • Review pricing and scope for progress claims and change orders
  • Oversee construction and completion process.
  • Liaise with Architects, Interior Designers, and other professionals during construction.
  • Perform visual electrical assessments of existing facilities and installations.
  • Other duties assigned, as necessary
  • Out of town travel maybe required (must hold a valid class 5 drivers license and have a personal vehicle)

You will have the opportunity to complete projects independently with support from senior staff. The Field Services Representative will be required to travel to and from the office and the required project site and will be required to provide their own transportation within Vancouver Island. Office hours are from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday, and occasionally at construction sites (observation).

Qualifications

  • Experience supervising or managing medium to large size or complex projects as a foreman or a project manager
  • 10yrs minimum experience in the electrical field
  • Strong knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and BC Building Code (BCBC)
  • Knowledge and application of industry-specific codes and standards (Fire Alarm Codes, BC Hydro, BCBC, NECB, etc.)Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and various other construction documentation
  • Strong understanding of interpreting various codes and standards and their application to electrical designs
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office productivity software
  • Ability to quickly absorb and use company-specific techniques, standards and procedures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in order to coordinate with clients and other disciplines (Architectural, Mechanical, etc.)
  • Detail-oriented with excellent grammar and punctuation skills
  • Ability to work within a team environment
  • Strong work ethic and disciplined time management skills
  • Organized and able to prioritize various tasks and have a flexible approach to assignments
  • Willingness to meet quick deadlines and handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to assist designers in creating functional and practical designs based on your industry experience
  • Familiarity with a variety of technologies and systems within the electrical industry
  • Broad knowledge of various market segments including: multi-unit residential, commercial, industrial and municipal projects.

Nice to haves:

  • Technical Safety BC Class A or B FSR
  • Current and ongoing engagement on electrical code or standards groups, training or education organizations or technical bodies contributing to the electrical industry.
  • Long term experience (more than 10yrs) years as an electrician
  • Diverse experience in the construction industry on electrical projects associated with buildings
  • Project management experience on large or complex projects
  • PMP or similar project management designation
