Title: Resource Worker

Status: Full-Time Permanent

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Community Resource Worker will be responsible for locating new referrals, managing paperwork for move-ins, processing ABW (Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped) and AISH (Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped) applications, and demonstrating expertise in seniors' housing programs. The position involves administrative duties, including collaboration with the courts/justice system for potential applicants. The successful candidate will work closely with the program Intake Coordinator and case manager, fostering a collaborative environment.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain an up-to-date database of potential applicants and community resources.
  • Identify and locate new referrals for housing programs.
  • Provide guidance and support to clients navigating senior housing options.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of how senior housing programs operate.
  • Interact with clients and referral agencies on an ongoing basis.
  • Process ABW and AISH applications in collaboration with clients.
  • Handle paperwork for move-ins and ensure all documentation is accurate and complete.
  • Collaborate with the courts/justice system for potential applicants.
  • Act as an instructor, recruiter, resource, and mentor as required.
  • Address client inquiries and concerns with professionalism and empathy.
  • Work collaboratively with the program Intake Coordinator and Case Manager.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to program development.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • Post-secondary education in Health Sciences, Addictions Counseling, Social Work, or related social science preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years experience working in the field of addiction and with marginalized populations
  • Valid Driver's License with 2 million liability insurance
  • Well-developed and effective communication skills (written and oral)
  • Demonstrated skills in critical thinking.
  • Experience with the HMIS database is an asset
  • Flexibility for after-hours work as required to meet client needs

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in social services or housing programs.
  • Knowledge of senior housing programs and the ability to guide clients through the application process.
  • Familiarity with ABW and AISH application procedures.
  • Ability to effectively manage confrontations and conflict.
  • Self-starter with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow demonstrating excellent time management skills.
  • Knowledge of local social service agencies and referrals
  • Knowledge in preparing reports, and ability to maintain client case files.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, take initiative and be self-motivated.
  • Acute attention to detail and a commitment to excellence and high standards
  • Empathy and compassion for individuals seeking housing assistance.

As a condition of employment, all staff are required to produce a clear Criminal Record Background check with a Vulnerable Sector search upon hire and every three years thereafter.
