Temporary Division Technology Support - Education Centre/Aakaipookaiski (Meaning: Many Children)

We are excited to a have a Temporary Technology Support opportunity available May 1, 2024 until August 31, 2024 to work within the Technology Department. Lethbridge School Division, embraces diversity and functions in a dynamic, innovative and fast paced environment. Reporting to the Director of Technology, this position will provide support to the technology department under the direction of the Technology Coordinator.

What will you work?

0.515 FTE (18 hours per week)

Hours of work: Monday-Thursday 1:00pm-4:30 pm & Friday's 8:00am -12:00pm. *

*Note: schedule is subject to change based on Division needs.

This position follows the assigned 12 Month Non-Union Staff calendar.

Knowledge and Skills Required:
  • Microsoft Server products (2019/2016 Server, Azure Services, Terminal Services)
  • MSI Packaging, Intune
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows 10
  • Advanced knowledge of Office 365
  • Knowledge of iOS

Preferred knowledge and skills include:

  • Thorough knowledge of desktop operating systems
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Windows 2019/2016 Server and Active Directory
  • Familiarity with iOS devices - iPads, iPhones, and mobile device management
  • Familiarity with common software applications (Office 365, Microsoft Teams, Adobe Creative Suite, and other productivity software)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Wide Area Network/Local Area Network issues, techniques and installations
  • Proven problem solving processes and skills
  • Familiarity with VOIP phones and systems
  • Familiarity with printers and printer services
What will you do?
  • Provide technical onsite face-to-face technology support and troubleshooting services at multiple schools
  • Work in a team to physically deploy and remove hardware in schools. This includes all school and classroom technology including printers, phones, projectors, desktop computers, laptops, tablets and classroom sound systems
  • Review common site technical issues for root causes and work with the IT team and schools to resolve them
  • Complete other responsibilities consistent with the role as defined by the Coordinator of Technology

You will also provide support to:

I. Wide Area Network

  • Provide ongoing support for wide area network
  • Monitor issues relating to performance, use, etc.
  • Participating in the planning of new system installations

II. System Support

  • Provide guidance and support for system upgrades, installations and maintenance both at a hardware and software level
  • Provide user support for authorized software applications
  • Monitor systems for legitimate use of software licenses
  • Recommend and install software applications
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of system installations in both instructional and administrative systems
  • Maintain any required vendor certifications for duties assigned

III. Communication Support

  • Assist in the planning, installation and implementation of electronic communication services
  • Assist in the planning, operation and maintenance of Internet services
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of technology projects that reach numerous schools

IV. Network Support

  • Provide network infrastructure support
  • Provide network operating system advice and support
  • Maintain network and desktop system security and firewall protection
  • Maintain and help others with server administration

Requirements

Education, Certification, and Experience required:

  • Preferred two (2) years post-secondary diploma in computer technology or a related field and two (2) years related technology experience, however, a combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Proof of education is upon application. Education received outside of Canada will require a Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) confirming post secondary equivalencies.
  • Class 5 driver's license (graduated driver's license (GDL) not accepted).
  • Having a relevant Microsoft data certification or demonstration that significant course work and associated exams have been completed on the Microsoft Certified System Engineer program would be an asset.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

In order to ensure and maintain a safe and secure working and learning environment, applicants new to Lethbridge School Division who are offered employment must provide:

  • A police information check; including Vulnerable Sector Check from Police Services or an RCMP detachment that does not have any charges or convictions.
  • A satisfactory Intervention Record Check from South Region Alberta Child and Family Services.
  • Proof of photo identification, may be a valid driver's license, provincial identification card as issued by a licensed government registry office, valid passport or Nexus card. If one cannot be provided, a new card must be obtained and proof of application provided within three days of hire.
  • Documentation of a valid Social Insurance Number in the employee's legal name. If valid Social Insurance documentation in the current legal name can not be provided, the successful candidate will be required to obtain a new one within three days of hire.

Benefits

Annual salary for this position is a minimum of $29,300, however salary is reviewed based on education, certification and experience.
