We are looking for an Automation Technician for our growing Electrical Maintenance team! Under the direction of the Supervisor, Robotics and Automation, you will work with a team of employees with a vast knowledge base. The job is varied and interesting with lots of opportunity for future career growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Calibrate and test circuit boards and other equipment.
  • Maintain the calibration, wiring, and operations of cell cycling equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, calibrate, repair, and test custom circuit boards for battery qualification/cycle testing units.
  • Design ACAD, schematic, and mechanical prints of panels for control of specialized battery R&D/testing devices.
  • Assist Research Scientists in investigations by designing and building small, dedicated devices. Collecting and analyzing data recorded by the device.
  • Work as a member of the team with Engineering and other Operations personnel to problem solve, improve machine design, and upgrade the equipment preventative maintenance program in order to improve product quality and increase equipment operating efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems with the aim of returning the equipment to service quickly.
  • Commission new equipment.
  • Program new manufacture/testing devices and modification of existing devices.
  • PLC programming.
  • R&D investigations (accelerometer, load cell, Fujitsu).
  • Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems with the aim of returning the equipment to service quickly.
  • Assist in the training and mentoring co-op students.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary diploma in a recognized Electronics program.
  • Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Use of a variety of hand tools, cutters, strippers, crimpers, soldering irons, etc.
  • Operation of basic electronics testing equipment (power supplies, DMM, oscilloscope)
  • Demonstrates a high level of teamwork skills and ability to share ideas and solutions to work.
