We are looking for a hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves Senior Accountant responsible for the daily operations and for spearheading the month-end close including the preparation of financial statements. This position will report to the Controller.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of monthly FS, including accruals, prepaids, billings, and various reconciliations (cash and cash equivalent, bank, vendor and customer, etc.) as required – this involves end-to-end process from initiating journal entries to preparation of financial statements and all that the process entails
  • Preparation of month-end balance sheet and P&L schedules
  • Analyze monthly variances between budget and actual financial results
  • Contract review and application of terms, including ensuring/preparing monthly billings to vendors and customers
  • Preparation and analysis of cash position including preparation/review of bank reconciliations
  • Assist in the preparation of financial forecast and updates throughout the year
  • Assist with year-end audit
  • Ad hoc and other duties as needed

Requirements:

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, in particular Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Strong accuracy, attention to detail, investigative, and analytical skills with a curious and challenging mind
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to effectively prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Must be able to work overtime to close month end process within deadlines
  • Proven team player with ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting and reporting experience

Academic/Professional Requirements:

  • Accounting graduate
  • CPA designation or pursuing CPA designation is a must.

Work location: On-site - mandatory in North York, ON M2J 5B5

Required Qualifications:
