What you'll be doing:

  • Conduct diagnostics and supervise Service Technicians when conducting diagnostics.
  • Assist Service Technicians with service and repairs when help is needed.
  • Supervise and direct workflow through the shop to ensure maximum efficiency and shop capacity, reduce waste (time and talent) and eliminate bottlenecks.
  • Provide training and coaching, freely sharing experience, training, and expertise with the other Service Technician's.
  • Assist the Service Manager to make sure all Service Technicians are up to date on all factory/product certifications and actively engaged in in-service training.
  • Mentor the Apprentice Technicians and supervise their progress through to their Journeyperson status.
  • Align with and represent the Service Manager in the shop (leadership spokesperson), monitor and evaluate Service Technician performance, assist in Service Technician performance reviews and coaching/performance management, collaborate with the Service Manager relative to workshop management, act as "clearinghouse" for information from and to the Service Technicians, support management initiatives, monitor and report attendance and punctuality deficiencies, etc.
  • Maintain responsibility for quality workmanship, inspect/verify repairs, manage all comebacks (document nature of comeback and Service Technician responsible for comeback), customer satisfaction, test drives, vehicle appearance, etc.
  • Maintain a positive attitude, is reliable and punctual.
  • Deliver high-quality customer service.
  • Promote and support the team model of doing business.
  • Conduct business ethically, professionally and with integrity.
  • Strive for continuous improvement and cooperate with training and coaching as provided.
  • Learn and use the tools, systems, processes, and resources provided and promoted by FFUN Group.
  • Participate in meetings and provide reports as required.
  • Help support and ensure we are following all safety standards within the branch as a team.

What you will need:

  • Looking for a minimum 5 years of experience in a Rec and Marine shop.
  • Previous foreperson experience would be an asset.
  • Has experience operating the product lines we repair and service. Be an enthusiast.
  • Diagnosing and quoting/repairing BRP products we sell including Seadoo, Skidoo, Can Am ATV, Side by Sides, Spyder and/or comparable products of a different brand.
  • BRP training and certification would be an asset.
  • Factory marine training and certification would be an asset. Primarily Mercury Outboard and I/O and Evinrude.
  • Experience rigging of boats and electronics.
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing of marine products would be an asset for the role.
  • Ability to operate a forklift.
  • Hold a Boaters license/Pleasure craft operators' card.
  • Experience with coaching, mentoring, and developing junior staff.
  • Proven ability on delivering quality work, often going over an above to exceed expectations.
  • Demonstrates leadership qualities – effective communication, listening skills, empathetic, authentic, personable, believes in 2-way feedback, encourages staff collaboration, teamwork, and fosters recognition initiatives.
  • Technically competent as required to use Service Department Technology to process work orders (CDK).
  • Driven to learn, grow and develop as a team leader.
