We are in need of a permanent full-time Torch Cutter who will be responsible for cutting oversized scrap metal. The ideal candidate must be able to work independently with the endurance and stamina to work in the yard (OUTDOORS) under all weather conditions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Cut oversized metal using an acetylene torch
• Working outside the yard at all times
• Agility to climb in and around all shapes and sizes of metal for torching safely
• Sorting, picking, and processing metal pieces
• Assist in ensuring the equipment used is maintained during the normal course of performing the job
• Recognize operational problems and report them to the supervisor or health and safety
• Operate equipment while adhering to all safe work practices and procedures (skid steer, acetylene cutting torch, forklift)
• Assist in other yard work and warehouse duties when the need arises
• Cleaning your work area and equipment at the end of your shift
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED:

• While torch cutting or previous industrial-setting experience gives you an advantage it is NOT A MUST – we are willing to train the right candidate
• Knowledge of torching equipment an asset
• Working knowledge of safety standards
• Good oral English communication abilities
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, and on occasion above 51 - 100lbs with use of mechanical aid or help from co-workers
• Able to work professionally, respectfully with a positive attitude and a high level of personal integrity at all times in a fast-paced working environment
• Strong work ethic and ability to complete work in a timely manner
• Must be able to work with little supervision; must be self-directed
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Work Conditions & Additional Information:

• Work location: 550 Messier St Winnipeg MB
• Working hours: MON to FRI, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• Will be required to work outdoors in all weather conditions at all times
• Exposure to heat, cold and chemicals used in torches
• Wearing Respiratory Protection is part of the job
• Long hours of standing/sitting
• Own tools/equipment required: Steel-toed safety boots
