Job Title: Senior / Lead EstimatorJob ID: MK807026624Location: Burnaby, BCOverview:As the Senior Estimator, you will work closely with clients to provide a range of pre-construction services throughout the design and estimation phase. You will lead a talented and supportive pre-construction department reporting into the Chief Estimator. This role also offers a pro-active professional to also look at seeking areas of opportunity for the group to add or grow areas of the business, your part of the business not just department.   • Prepare potential bid strategies for both negotiated and competitive tender projects of all sizes and types.
  • Review final estimate packages to ensure accuracy and completeness prior to formal quotation.
  • Create quick Order of Magnitude budgets, meaningful and achievable project schedules, elemental budgets, and trade quotes for Chief Estimator's review.
  • Read and understand impacts of SGC's and Division 01 specifications.
  • Recognize, assess, and resolve areas of risk within a project (ie: exclusions, clarifications, and price adjustments).
  • Liaise with other departments within the company during pre-construction to identify issues, delegate responsibility, and cost out site logistics items.
  • Communicate with Project Managers during construction of successful bids to gain real time feedback on bid issues.
  • Prepare and participate in presentations to clients, including final negotiations.
  • Maintain client relationships, including sourcing new work with existing clients.
  • Develop new forms, approaches, and ideas to increase efficiency in the department.
  • Mentor and develop team members to maximize productivity, innovation, and teamwork.
  • Perform additional assignments and research to help further the knowledge base of yourself, the department, and the company.
What you must have:
  • Minimum of 10 years of construction estimating experience.
  • Experience working in commercial, multi-family residential, industrial, and retail with various bid methods and types of head contracts.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction materials, trades and also insurance requirements
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and solid negotiation skills.
