Reporting Relationships: Vice President, Project Portfolio

Position Summary:

The Project Engineer with over 7 years of experience is responsible for the planning, coordination, and delivery of storm, water and wastewater projects at Civica. The Project Engineer is ultimately responsible for maintaining revenue and sales targets, resource management and planning, client and project management, and project delivery within the team.

Major Functions:

  • Prepare engineering services, scope of work, and associated
  • Perform project management
  • Prepare studies, reports, design documents, and design plans and specifications for storm, water and wastewater
  • Prepare storm, water and wastewater hydraulic models.
    • Model calibration
    • Minor system capacity analysis
    • HGL analysis
    • Dual drainage modelling
    • Watershed analysis, hydrograph and peak discharge development and routing
    • Flood analysis
    • Stormwater quantity / quality calculations
    • Watermain analysis
  • Complete engineering analysis and

Responsibilities:

  • Delegation, coordination, and oversight of technical work for Project Analysts within the Civica Consulting group.
  • Task leadership on Water and Wastewater Capacity Assessments projects for development applications, as well as general flow monitoring and associated professional consulting and services projects, and/or tasks, ensuring completion of work on-time and on-budget.
  • Task leadership on Municipal projects, including EA studies and Master Plans.
  • Managing resource allocation and time approvals, as well as working with Finance to develop and send invoices and follow up on A/R as appropriate.
  • Serving as a technical resource during liaison with private developers, municipal/agency staff and other stakeholders.
  • Writing/reviewing technical reports to document analyses.
  • Responsibility for the quality of written, technical and graphical work completed by Project Analysts.
  • Review flow and rain flow monitoring data, hydraulic model development and results to assess sewer system performance.
  • Review GIS data analyses, figures and maps created for technical reports.
  • Coordinate tasks with other Business Units.
  • As necessary, prepare engineering related calculations and develop maps and visual aids.
  • Contribute to proposal development work as directed by the VP, Project Portfolio.
  • Mentor intermediate and junior team members.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Working Conditions:

Normal working hours in an office environment. May be required to deal with difficult clients. Will likely deal under tight deadlines and may be required to work overtime to meet deadlines.

Requirements:

The Project Engineer would normally attain the required knowledge, skills and abilities through completion of Civil or Water Resources Engineering degree at a post-secondary institution and has at least 7 years of experience. A P. Eng. designation in good standing is required for this position. Equivalencies will be considered. The candidate should be proficient in InfoWorks, PCSWWM, InfoWater, and GIS software.

The incumbent must have proficient knowledge in the following areas:
