Backend Java Developer

Position Overview:
VersaFile is seeking a skilled Backend Java Developer who has experience in SAP to join our Product team. As a Backend Java Developer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining high-performance, scalable, and reliable backend systems.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams to architect and deliver robust solutions that meet the needs of our clients and contribute to the success of our projects. You will have a strong track record for developing enterprise grade software and experienced in development frameworks and third-party libraries.
Location: This is a remote position, however, we are only looking for candidates who are based in BC.
What You'll Do:
- Work directly with our clients to gather requirements, design and architect a robust SAP solutions using our product, DocuFlow
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and deliver high-quality backend solutions in Java
- Design, implement, and maintain Java-based backend systems and APIs.
- Optimize and enhance existing backend infrastructure for improved performance, stability and scalability.
- Collaborate with front-end developers, QA engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions.
- Contribute to the entire development lifecycle, maintaining high standards for code, technical documentation and deliverables
- Work in an agile development environment
- Stay current with industry trends and technologies to propose innovative solutions.
Who You'll Be:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years in a Backend Development Java role with solid understanding of J2EE technologies
- Strong proficiency in Java and related frameworks (Spring, Hibernate, etc.).
- Experience with RESTful API design and implementation
- Experience writing technical documentation and software architecture
- Knowledge of database design and optimization (SQL, NoSQL).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work in an independent and collaborative work environment
Nice To Haves:
- Experience with microservices architecture.
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools.
- Previous experience in a managed services environment
