The Opportunity:

We're seeking a dynamic Generalist (with a focus on Talent Acquisition) in Edmonton, AB to join our team. This role presents an exceptional opportunity for an HR professional passionate about driving organizational growth through strategic talent acquisition initiatives and fostering an inclusive workplace culture. Reporting directly to the Director, People & Culture, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping our HR infrastructure.e

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

Talent Acquisition Leadership: Spearhead talent acquisition efforts to attract top talent, leveraging innovative sourcing strategies and recruitment techniques. Lead the end-to-end recruitment process, from candidate identification to offer negotiation and onboarding. You'll also be responsible for mentoring our Junior Recruiter and providing support and feedback on an on-going basis.

Onboarding and Orientation Processes: Develop and implement robust onboarding and orientation programs to ensure a smooth transition for new hires across the company. Streamline processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness, facilitating comprehensive orientation sessions to install company core values and culture.

Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives across People & Culture processes, including benefit administration, HRIS data tracking and system set-up, compensation and employee relations. Identify opportunities to streamlines processes and enhance operational efficiency within the People & Culture department.

Candidate Engagement and Employee Retention: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop initiatives aimed at enhancing candidate through to employee engagement and retention. Foster a positive work environment aligned with our organizational vision, mission and core values.

Transactional Support: Working with our People & Culture Business Partner, you'll provide comprehensive support across a wide range of HR functions, including employee relations, benefit administration, assisting with investigations, and WCB and Disability Claims Management. Collaborate with various teams to address day-to-day People & Culture inquiries and resolve employee issues, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations.

You possess the following education, experience, and skills:

  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive and diverse experience in the HR field including HRIS data entry, employee training and onboarding, employment document auditing, HR reporting, and other ad-hoc HR tasks.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Recruiter and/or 1 year as a Generalist is required
  • Experience supporting special projects in HR areas such as Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, employee relations, and training and development.
  • Continuous Improvement Training (Lean Six Sigma) or Change Management Training (Prosci) is considered an asset.
  • Thorough working knowledge of the Alberta Employment Standards, Human Rights Act, and the Occupational Health and Safety legislation
  • Post-secondary education specializing in business, human resources, or a related field is required.
  • Working towards or have your Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation is considered an asset.
  • Working towards or have your Registered Professional Recruiter (RPR) designation is considered an asset.
  • Intermediate level proficiency in MS Office products (Excel, Outlook, Word) and HRIS systems.
