Would you like to work on some of the greatest franchises in gaming history? How about more than one? Certain Affinity is an exclusive Austin studio composed of a tightly-knit group of experienced industry veterans committed to a solid work/life balance. We're best known for co-developing multiple AAA FPS products, but we also work on a few projects of our own, and have very interesting new projects in the works.
We are seeking a talented Level Artist to join our team and help make great games. The job will require working closely with designers and other artists to build environments with a focus on visually stunning composition that enhances gameplay.
The position requires a strong sense of composition mixed with video game art production methods. You must be proficient in next-gen world creation and in-engine implementation while continuing to push art to the next level.
Responsibility
  • Ensure consistency and quality of own work and able to match current established standards and production timelines
  • Creatively work with the Art Director and the rest of the World Team in technical/aesthetic problem-solving efforts
  • Proactively gather feedback and consistently apply the feedback to current and future tasks, building a strong and diverse set of skills along the way.
  • Set Dress environments including: asset placement, terrain painting, foliage, blueprint, etc
  • Able to take a portion of a level from blockout to content complete using new and pre-existing library of content
  • Understand performance requirements for environments and able to understand potential tradeoffs between art, gameplay and perf
  • Work with design to maintain proper level flow while also finding opportunities to push the visuals and storytelling
  • Represent Certain Affinity professionally in interactions with partners

Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience making environment art for games
  • Strong understanding of UE5 world building techniques
  • Portfolio showing off your work (focus on full environment composition and storytelling)
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong understanding of how to lead a player through an environment using composition fundamentals and pacing, while also understanding gameplay implications.
  • Ability to grasp technical information and processes quickly
  • Proficiency with Substance Painter, 3D Modeling programs such as Max, Maya, Fusion 360, Mol, ZBrush, etc.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to faithfully translate concepts and ideas
  • Passion and ability to work as a positive, collaborative, enthusiastic, ambitious and contributing team member with a real desire to work with the team to find solutions.
