The City of Brooks requires one (1) Parks Maintenance II in the Parks Services Department.

Job Details & Responsibilities:

As our Parks Maintenance II you will be responsible for performing the day to day operation and maintenance of all parks, pathways, sports fields, cemeteries and any other related parks amenities under the department's area of responsibility. You will operate the following equipment: chainsaw, front end loaders, mowers, hand tools, bucket truck and snow removal equipment.

Requirements:

  • Level II
    • Completion of a High School Diploma or equivalent;
    • Minimum of six (6) months to one (1) year of experience in parks operations or municipal parks environment, horticulture, golf course or landscaping,
    • Valid Class 5 Driver's License with Q-Endorsement;
    • Fall Protection, Flag Person, Standard First Aid, WHMIS, and Parks & Sport Fields Operator Level 1 Certificates;
    • CSA Playground Certificate or Pesticide Applicator Certificate;
    • Clean driver's abstract;
    • Certificates for Chainsaw Safety and Cutting Techniques Training, Confined Space and Ground Disturbance would be considered assets;

Compensation & Benefits:

  • The City of Brooks offers a competitive salary and benefits package with this position falling within the scope of the Collective Agreement between the City of Brooks and the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 1032.
  • The 2024 salary range for this position is $28.12 - $30.79 per hour depending on qualifications and experience. Regular working hours are Monday to Friday, from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. This position may include shifts in the evenings, weekends, and overtime as required. The Collective Agreement including wages can be found online at www.brooks.ca.
  • Additionally, you will receive a free family membership to the JBS Canada Centre during your term of employment.

A clean criminal record with vulnerable sector check and a driver's abstract will be required before an offer of employment is presented to the successful candidate.
