One of our manufacturing clients in Brampton, ON is looking for a HR Generalist for their facility.
Responsibilities:
Labor Relations:
- Serve as a liaison between management and union representatives, facilitating communication and addressing issues related to the interpretation and application of collective bargaining agreements.
- Assist in grievance procedures, including investigation, resolution, and documentation of grievances in accordance with union contracts and applicable laws.
- Participate in labor negotiations, providing HR expertise and support to management during collective bargaining sessions.
Union Contract Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all provisions of union contracts, including wage and hour regulations, benefits, and working conditions.
- Interpret and communicate contract terms and changes to employees and management, ensuring understanding and adherence.
Employee Relations:
- Address employee concerns and grievances in a fair and consistent manner, balancing the needs of employees with organizational objectives and union agreements.
- Collaborate with union representatives to resolve issues and maintain positive labor-management relations.
HR Administration:
- Maintain accurate records of union-related activities, including grievances, negotiations, and contract changes.
- Process union-related paperwork, such as membership dues, union elections, and contract updates.
Training and Education:
- Provide training to managers and supervisors on labor relations topics, including union awareness, contract interpretation, and handling grievances.
- Educate employees on their rights and responsibilities under union contracts and applicable labor laws.
Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations governing unionized workplaces, including reporting requirements and filing obligations.
- Prepare reports and documentation for union representatives, management, and regulatory agencies as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3 years experience in human resources roles within a unionized environment, with a strong understanding of labor relations and collective bargaining processes.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with both union representatives and management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) and MS Office applications.
