Key Responsibilities:
Equipment Maintenance & Repair
- Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine the extent of repair required.
- Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems.
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance and ensure that the work meets manufacturers' specifications.
- Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery.
Training & Mentorship
- Provide hands-on training and mentorship to Indigenous apprentices, sharing knowledge and expertise.
- Monitor the progress of apprentices and provide feedback to improve their skills and knowledge.
- Foster a positive learning environment that encourages questions and growth.
Safety Compliance
- Adhere to all workplace safety policies, regulations, and best practices.
- Ensure equipment and tools are maintained in safe operating condition.
- Report any unsafe conditions or incidents to the management team.
Qualifications:
- Valid Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic certification.
- Proven experience with civil and forestry equipment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with computerized diagnostic equipment and modern repair methods.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
