Job Brief:

The Junior Accountant is responsible for supporting the Controller in preparing periodical financial reports and ensuring the credibility of financial information for multiple Control Tech companies.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performs reconciliation of weekly and monthly cash accounts and payable and receivable accounts.
  • Investigates of discrepancies in reconciliations, regularly communicates with payable and receivable departments.
  • Administers company credit cards.
  • Administers fixed asset acquisitions, disposals, and amortization postings through IFS.
  • Completes monthly reconciliations of government taxes for multiple jurisdictions (Canada and USA).
  • Completes daily transfers of transactions from subledgers to the general ledger.
  • Completes monthly balance sheet working paper reconciliations and investigates discrepancies.
  • Assists with completing month end closing of subledgers and subsequent month end activities such as accruals, allocations, and coding corrections.
  • Completes necessary journal entries and postings, including maintaining and posting recurring entries, automatic posting rules, and combination rules to reduce coding errors.
  • Supports Controller with general ledger transaction review and analysis.
  • Supports the finance department with general administrative duties (i.e., filing, running reports, etc.) and completes general projects as required.
  • Participates/complies with company safety programs & company policies.
  • Other duties as required.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Degree in business, commerce, or management, with a concentration in accounting.
  • Experience in a related role is considered an asset.
  • Extensive knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) or related software.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Possess strong math and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of financial data analysis and reporting.
  • Ability to work under pressure, multi-task, and prioritize based on deadlines.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
  • Familiarity with oil and gas service industry is an asset.
