Job Purpose

As a Production Engineering Assocaite, you will report to the Manager of Engineering and play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless execution of daily operations. Your main responsibilities will revolve around bringing new composite products to life. Success in this role will be your support to the production team, participation in continuous improvement initiatives, troubleshooting challenges, and contribution to the design of improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Work Order and Instruction Creation:
    • Develop detailed and accurate work orders and instructions for production activities.
    • Ensure clarity and ease of understanding for the production team.
  2. Continuous Improvement:
    • Collaborate with production staff to identify areas for improvement in processes.
    • Actively participate in troubleshooting challenges and implementing effective solutions.
    • Design and implement small improvements using SolidWorks, with a quick turnaround time.
  3. Innovation and Big Ideas:
    • Drive innovation by exploring and pushing through impactful ideas for process enhancement.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement innovative solutions.
  4. Adaptability and Learning:
    • Demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
    • Embrace a proactive approach to expanding knowledge and skills as needed.

Must Have

  • An interest in working for a small business, with an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering (other disciplines will be considered).
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks for design and improvement projects.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Working knowledge of computer programming (Python, JS, C).
  • Advanced knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft 365 and databases.
  • Clean Police criminal record search (PCI is Controlled Goods Program Certified and will require a Security Assessment application upon hire).

Nice to Have

  • 1-3 years of relevant experience or recent graduate.
  • Experience and knowledge of composites manufacturing, industry standards, practices, and specifications.
  • Previous As9100 or ISO 9001 experience.
  • Strong technical writing ability.

Working Conditions

PCI promotes a safe and clean working environment that meets or exceeds standards prescribed by the Ministry of Labour (Ontario). Work will be conducted indoors in our manufacturing shop office. Personal protective equipment will be necessary when on the shop floor including safety shoes (CSA Green Triangle) and safety glasses.

Office Environment: The role is primarily based in a comfortable office setting, the majority of the role is sitting at a computer. Occasionally this role is required to be on the production floor.

Shop hours: Mon thru Fri 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Shop Location: On-site, Fasken Road, Toronto, ON
