House of Jewellery is a wholesale jewellery trading company based in Toronto, Canada. Established in 1986, House of Jewellery is now one of Canada's leading silver, gold, and diamond jewellery wholesalers.

We specialize in selling high quality Sterling Silver and 14K Gold from Europe and Asia.

Our team is seeking a highly motivated Junior Bookkeeper to assist in bookkeeping and administrative duties for House of Jewellery and related companies.

NOTE: The candidate will be required to perform bookkeeping for other businesses owned by the owner that include but are not limited to a gas station/convenience store along with a laundromat.

Position Description:

Reporting to the company's Bookkeeper, this role will assist in managing our day-day-day bookkeeping tasks along with supporting with finance and tax reporting activities. Confidentiality, excellent organizational skills, and high attention to detail are important qualifications for this position. The ideal candidate is a skilled multi-tasker, reliable and is committed to consistently meeting deadlines. This position requires a strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Online & QuickBooks Desktop.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Post adjustments and daily transactions (credit card, EOD POS tape, vendor invoices, deposits, etc)
  • Accounts Receivable (creation of invoices from source documents, apply payments, generate AR reports, follow up on past due accounts, respond to general customer inquiries)
  • Accounts Payable (organize, scan and save supplier bills, match supplier bills with payments, review and timely payment of credit card expenses, post and record all invoices and payments)
  • Assist with application of cash receipt (matching payments) such as checks, EFTs and credit card charges.
  • Maintenance of shared spreadsheets for company accounts.
  • Download of credit card transactions for multiple accounts, initial categorization of expenses.
  • Verification and extraction of data from accounting software.
  • Compilation and review of HST data for monthly filings.
  • Compilation of documents for fiscal year end.
  • Creation of payroll paystubs.
  • Ensure all invoices are properly documented, scanned, and saved in proper folders on our server.
  • Assist in preparation of financial statement and month-end process
  • Other office administrative work as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Accounting or related field
  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Min 1 year experience working in accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll and GST/HST reports.
  • Extensive experience with data entry, record keeping and computer operation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel and QuickBooks Online and Desktop

  • Full Time- 37.5-40 hours a week
  • Work Hours: Mon 9:30am-6:00pm, Tues-Thurs 10am-6:30pm, Fri 10am-5:30pm
