THE ROLE

As a Production Supervisor, you will provide leadership, coordination, and supervision to the production repair team You will be working for a growing and innovative company in Oakville ON. This is a great permanent opportunity for someone who enjoys working for a well-known company in the railcar manufacturing industry. In this position you must be flexible to work days and afternoons.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Run the day-to-day activities in the repairs department for a safe and smooth workflow
  • Assign work to the repair/production team
  • Monitor and track employee punctuality and attendance and address non-compliance
  • Monitor and manage overall team behaviour and deliver coaching and discipline within guidelines
  • Acts as the facilitys subject matter expert for the performance of railcar repair
  • Communicate production status updates to the team regularly: car completion, expected completion time, and current and upcoming capacity for additional work
  • Communicate and workplace hazards to employees, escalate to have safety hazards addressed
  • Resolves complex repair questions/issues for employees
  • Organizes hourly workforce and assigns work orders to repair teams to ensure the most efficient execution of railcar repairs
  • Determines and communicates which teams/individuals will be executing specific car repairs including work type and location
  • Assists in overall shop scheduling, repairing railcars, and car switching
  • Provides labour cost estimates for non-standard activities
  • Establishes and maintains a work environment and workforce culture that encourages and recognizes active employee participation, ownership, and diversity. Ensure positive employee morale
  • Work closely with office staff and management to coordinate work tasks, and define, and drive toward team and facility goals. Help make the workplace and process improvements and recognize the contributions of others
  • Other related duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3+ years of supervisor experience in production manufacturing
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong interpersonal, time management and leadership skills
  • Excellent time management, planning, and organizational skills
  • Familiar with relevant railcar standards and regulations
  • Demonstrated decision-making and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work in an environment with continuous exposure to outdoor weather, as well as dust, fumes, and noise
  • Detail-oriented and committed to quality
  • Proven ability to achieve results
