The Opportunity

General Bank of Canada is looking for a temporary, fulltime Operations Business Analyst to join the organization as a key contributor with the Bank's Operations team. Consistent with the growth trajectory of the Bank, this is an excellent opportunity for the right individual to contribute to building the bank of the future with considerable potential for learning, growth, and advancement.

Reporting to the Operations Strategy Manager, the Business Analyst is responsible for overseeing process optimization and the overall effectiveness of the business unit, lending platforms and processes for the entire Operations division, including Credit, Collections, Loan Funding, Dealer Support and Customer Service departments. In this position, you will merge your outstanding client service skills with your enthusiasm for business intelligence and creative problem-solving. Driven by intellectual curiosity, you'll empower individuals across the organization to tackle challenges, discover efficiencies, and adopt innovative approaches, ultimately facilitating more informed decision-making through a deeper understanding of the data you provide.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support and empowerment to users through self-serve data visualization and reporting tools.
  • Showcase the ability to liaise between non-technical and technical business units.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform strategic business decisions.
  • Support change management initiatives, ensuring smooth transitions for business process updates and initiatives.
  • Adopt and provide input to process improvement initiatives in Operations, recognize opportunities for improvement, and continually make recommendations to improve efficiency and engagement.
  • Contribute to the relevant strategic and operational directions of the Bank, as they impact departmental business activities, ensuring full understanding and executing work requested.
  • Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Interact with the appropriate areas within the Bank to understand their current challenges and issues, and work with them to resolve this while respecting the needs of the client and GBC.
  • Collaborating on Operations project implementations, driving the research, analysis, ideation phase up to and including pilot project and testing. Supporting handoff to departments to fully implement and integrate into their process and procedures.
  • Aid in the development, documentation, recommendation, and presentation of recommendations for Operations. This includes cost and benefit estimation, business requirements documentation, participation in the evaluation of possible solution providers, and implementation assistance.
  • Create and integrate internal processes, tools, and resources for GBC team members to provide exceptional experiences to our customers.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Proficiency in programs such as Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Visio, SharePoint, and Excel) and Power BI is required.
  • Previous demonstrated experience in a Business Analyst role is required and previous experience in the financial services industry is considered an asset. le
  • Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills utilized in development of process, process mapping, policies, guidelines, documents, and materials are required.
  • Experience in Lean Management / Six Sigma or Agile Management / Methodology.
  • Business Analyst Certification and / or Degree in business, finance, or related discipline. Equivalent certifications or education is considered.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strong collaboration and influencing skills; relationship building.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and draw actionable insights.
  • Ability to simplify complex concepts.

The salary range for this position is between $75,000 to $100,000 annually.
