Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Intermediate Accountant will be responsible for the efficient and effective coordination and administration of accounting and financial tasks including invoicing, collection, month-end, year-end, and general accounting. The Intermediate Accountant will ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records while adhering to internal controls.

What you'll do:

  • Maintain and update billing schedule based on contract terms and ensure clients are invoiced on a timely and accurate manner;
  • Build relationship with clients, coordinate collections as well as address any issues on billings;
  • Follow up with clients to ensure timely collection of open invoices;
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating accounts receivable status report and monitor accounts receivable metrics (i.e., DSO)
  • Liaison with project management team to get status updates on active projects for billing and revenue tracking purposes;
  • Responsible for monthly review of time and material reports to ensure active projects are billed accordinglyLiaison with legal team to sync on contract status and issue, if any;
  • Review vendor invoices to make sure they are coded correctly in the system and set up payments based on scheduled pay runs;
  • Perform P&L analysis as part of month-end closing to ensure completeness and accuracy of revenue and expenses;
  • Review month-end balance sheet schedules which include prepayments, accruals, fixed assets, etc.;
  • Reconcile and file HST on a timely manner;
  • Review bank and credit card reconciliations;
  • Prepare daily and weekly cash report;
  • Responsible for option calculation for new hires and ESOP registry update;
  • Assist in annual audit by providing auditors' request and requirements;
  • Other ad-hoc reporting tasks assigned by the manager

What you bring:

  • At least 3 years accounts payable, accounts receivable and reconciliation experience.
  • CPA or working towards CPA designation.
  • Keen attention to detail; ability to multitask and work effectively within a fast-growing organization and remote work environment.
  • Team player with good interpersonal skills; experience coordinating efforts of individuals across the organization to achieve results.
  • Has a customer-first mindset.
  • Ability to adapt to an agile startup environment.
  • Eagerness to learn more to develop skills with positive attitude towards challenging tasks.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
