Park Paving Ltd. has been locally owned and operated for almost 50 years as one of the largest road construction contractors in Edmonton, and we are looking for a Raker to work with our company's Asphalt Paving division for the upcoming 2024 road construction season.
This is a seasonal position that offers competitive wage with benefits. The primary duties for this position will include, but are not limited to:
- Helping with shoveling or operating the bobcat when needed or as required.
- Raking joints and seams and communicating with the roller operator to achieve the best results possible.
- Monitoring and fixing the overall quality of work including, segregation, high or low spots, bumps, etc.
- Helping with stringing the road before paving to ensure you have the proper grades.
- Overseeing the raising of manholes and water valves.
Requirements
- Have an understanding of the construction industry and road construction specifications and standards
- Display a professional and courteous approach with co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
- Must be physically fit – repetitive bending, lifting, kneeling, walking for long periods of time.
- Be able to work in inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
- Punctual and able to work full time, overtime, and weekends.
- FOR OPERATORS: Must maintain a driving record that meets Park Paving's minimum standards for vehicle and equipment operation – 6 or fewer demerits in 3 years, no dangerous driving charges, no DUI charges, etc.
Successful candidates will also possess the interpersonal skills needed to take direction and coordinate their efforts with their crew and foremen, while maintaining a positive and respectful work environment. Pay Scale: $28 - $34 / per hour
