We specialize in producing Deuterium Oxide and Deuterium gas for the Life Sciences, High Technology, and Environmental Science sectors. We are currently seeking an Operating Technician, reporting to the Production Manager.

This role is based out of the Isowater Corporation office located at 40 Sandford Fleming Drive, Collingwood, Ontario L9Y 4V7.

The Operating Technician will contribute to the operation of chemical processes aligned with product objectives. Your responsibilities will include performing routine preventive maintenance tasks to uphold the reliability of our systems. This position will focus on collaboration with Engineering, R&D, administration, and manufacturing related to Deuterium Oxide and Hydrogen Production Technology.

Responsibilities for this position include:

  • Ensure the smooth operation of machinery
  • Collect instrumentation data to complete shift reports and production forms
  • Participate in continuous improvement and technical problem solving activities
  • Hands-on installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Provide technical support to operators
  • Contribute to the development of training materials
  • Preform tests and analyze data for equipment optimization
  • Create and update standard operating procedures
  • Engage vendors for procurement and quotes on components
  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety initiatives and requirements

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

  • A minimum of 2 to 4 years of experience as an operator
  • A desire to perform hands-on development work
  • Welding or general millwright skills would be considered assets
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook & Teams)
  • Ability to learn and adapt to standard operating procedure updates
  • Strong documentation and technical writing skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong English verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates the ability to multitask, effectively prioritize duties, and execute tasks promptly
  • Flexible and adaptable with the ability to respond quickly to unplanned events or challenges
  • Desire to work in an innovative, fast past, changing environment
  • Possesses a strong work ethic, a mature, self-starter who remains calm under pressure
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills and attention to detail is critical
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • You must be available and willing to participate in any required training
  • Support in ensuring a tidy and well-organized work environment
  • Capability to perform general labor when necessary coupled with the ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship from Isowater Corp
