Giatec Scientific Inc. (Giatec) is looking for a driven Electro Mechanical Technician to join our team. As an Electro Mechanical Technician, you will be part of our Hardware Development team working on prototyping, testing, debugging, validating and documenting your efforts in support of design and development of Giatec products.
The ideal candidate should have a technical background in electronics, experience with a variety of tools, and have good attention to detail. Candidate should be comfortable with both working independently and with others and be eager to learn and improve their abilities.
The work location for this role is primarily onsite (i.e. at Giatec's office in Ottawa, ON).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assembling, building, calibrating, upgrading prototypes and products according to instructions
- Assisting in the planning and ordering of materials and components for manufacturing and prototyping
- Inspecting and evaluating incoming and outgoing parts and products
- Analyzing, debugging, repairing and documenting test units, returned products and field failure cases
- Contributing to developing code and scrips for test, tool and equipment automation
- Preparing various documents including process, technical reports, test results
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Possess minimum 2 year of related experience as an Electro-mechanical Technician or Technologist with an Engineering degree
- Good soldering skills and dexterity working with hand and power tools
- Able to read and understand schematic and PCB Layout drawings
- Strong organizational skills, attention to details and able to balance multiple priorities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proactive problem solver, capable of identifying/reporting issues and generating solutions
- Able to lift loads up to 12Kg
