The Role

Versaterm Community Engagement is a new team at Versaterm that brings together several of our product offerings focusing on the interaction between public safety and the community it serves. This role is one of two engineering manager positions within the Community Engagement Team, responsible for overseeing our Case Service and Visual Labs products.

Case Service comprises two conversational artificial intelligence applications designed to better serve public safety and the community. Triage assists community members in navigating non-emergency calls to public safety, relieving call center staff of their workload. Reporting provides a straightforward solution for community members to file NIBRS compliant reports without the need for an officer's involvement, thereby freeing up resources and meeting the community's needs more efficiently.

Visual Labs develops Android and web-based applications for public safety, including law enforcement, public venues, private security companies, and others. Supported by an integrated cloud-based Digital Evidence Management System (DEMS), the Visual Labs smartphone body camera solution enhances front-line field response with real-time video feeds.

Lead a team of talented engineers through a technical and organizational transformation, as well as a significant increase in scale. This full-stack team will oversee everything from system architecture to user interface, API tier, Service tier, and data tier. You will collaborate with our team of deployment engineers to install software at client sites. Responsibilities:

• Hire, manage and coach technical teams to ensure success in reaching their goals
• Provide oversight to ensure coding standards are adhered to
• Ensure Cloud SaaS platform meets availability and performance KPIs
• Act as system architect and software development (systems/application developer) technical expert.
  
• Work with deployment engineers installing software at client sites
• Promote excellence in the design and development of our architecture
• Ensure adherence to Agile processes and strong CI/CD practices
  
• Manage hardware vendor relationships and coordinate video processing/transcoding
• Foster a culture of innovation and collaboration within the team
• Act as the Technical expert in design & interface development, coding, testing, and debugging new software or significant enhancements to existing software

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of People Management experience
• 10+ years of Software Development experience (Full Stack)
• 5+ years of Cloud experience (AWS & Azure)
• Deep knowledge and experience with architecting and developing cloud-based SaaS products using Microsoft Azure or equivalent technologies.
• Deep knowledge and experience in cloud-based SaaS operations, including platform telemetry and management
• Experience with CI/CD, Agile processes (SCRUM/Kanban), and cognitive AI
• Proficiency in SQL, Java/Kotlin, JavaScript, PowerShell, and REST
  
• Familiarity with technical transformations and infrastructure as code (IAC)
• Strong communication skills and the ability to lead technical teams effectively
• Clear background checks and comply with high regulation procedures

Nice to Haves:

• Familiarity with SOC 2 or other high regulation procedures
• Infrastructure as code (IAC) experience
• Video processing/transcoding experience
• Previous experience in GovTech or Public Safety Tech is a plus
