Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Industrial Mechanic assists in the production process by performing regular maintenance and repairs on machinery and mechanical equipment. The Industrial Mechanic is also the go-to person for issues with production lines, equipment, and other machines.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Daily machinery checks
• Cleaning and lubricating machinery
• Correcting issues with machinery
• Removing/replacing defective parts
• Installing new machinery
• Educating production workers about preventative maintenance
• Preparing maintenance reports
• Welding and Fabrication
• General Machining
• Suggesting future repairs
• Creating requests for parts and supplies
• Related tasks as requested by the supervisor

Qualifications and Skills

• Interprovincial Qualification (Red Seal) is required
• A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment is required
• Strong manual dexterity
• Mechanical and technical skills
• Precision machining, welding and fabrication
• Ability to interpret blueprints and schematics
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and problem-solve malfunctions
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and under minimum supervision
• Familiarity with plastics or converting machinery would be considered an asset
• Work planning and continuous improvement experience would be considered an asset
• Problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
• A good sense of risk management
• Work flexible and on-call shifts
