About the Opportunity

The Finance team provides the organization with consistent and accurate financial information on a timely basis to allow stakeholders the ability to make informed decisions, and enable the organization to use its financial resources in the most effective way and assure constant cash flow. We're seeking a collaborative, proactive and detail-oriented Financial Analyst to work closely with various business units to provide expertise in areas such as planning, modeling, budgeting, assessing, consolidation, reconciliation, cost control and project control. Reporting to the Executive Director, Finance, the incumbent will analyze current and past financial data and performance, and identify trends in financial performance to provide recommendations for improvement which align with financial and departmental objectives.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Support the preparation of the annual budget
  • Prepare, analyze and review monthly financial reports and quarterly financial statements with business units using key metrics such as year-to-date expense, operating variance to budget, return on investment, etc.
  • Review financial information, and provide financial models and forecasts, to identify trends in financial performance and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Give advice for guiding business unit financial choices and overall financial strategy
  • Work closely with senior Finance staff members on special projects and reports

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree in business, finance or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Professional accounting designation in progress preferred
  • 5+ years' relevant work experience
  • Expertise in preparing and analyzing financial statements, and drawing key insights
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to quickly build rapport with colleagues and stakeholders
  • Proactive with excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Proven ability to work well under pressure
  • Experience in project management and budgeting
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making and analytical capabilities with excellent attention to detail; strategic thinker
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Maintain a high degree of discretion and confidentiality
  • Advanced Excel skills and ability to master various software systems
  • Experience in not-for-profit sector and MIP software would be considered assets

* This is a full-time permanent position Union Level D . At UJA we support a flexible work schedule and all of our employees engage in hybrid work.
