Electrical Testing and Commissioning Engineer

NETA ETT LEVEL 4: Electrical Testing Technician, Certified Senior Technician (Full-Time Permanent)

Set the technical direction for IXR's electrical testing program and develop the next generation of technicians.

CERTIFICATION: ETT Level 4

REPORTS TO: Operations Manager / Principal

SCHEDULE: Travel required

ABOUT THE ROLE

IXR is seeking a senior technical authority for electrical testing. You'll hold the top ANSI/NETA ETT credential, own our test procedures and quality program, solve the problems no one else can, and develop every technician from Level 1 through Level 3. This role underpins our NETA accreditation and our technical credibility with clients.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Technical authority

◆ Serve as technical authority of record on major and complex projects

◆ Make final calls on contested or ambiguous test results

◆ Correlate multi-method diagnostics into defensible asset condition and life recommendations

◆ Lead failure investigations, including forensic work reviewed by insurers or counsel

Program ownership

◆ Write and maintain company test procedures aligned to ANSI/NETA ATS and MTS

◆ Own the quality program, the test equipment fleet, and NETA accreditation readiness

◆ Own the electrical safety program: NFPA 70E compliance, incident energy review, PPE, qualified-worker determination

◆ Bring NFPA, IEEE, and NETA standards revisions into company practice

People development

◆ Design and deliver the internal training curriculum

◆ Verify and sign off Level 1 to 3 training and experience records

◆ Mentor Level 3 technicians toward Level 4 and recommend advancement

Client-facing

◆ Review scopes and estimates for complex or high-risk projects

◆ Present methodology and findings to client engineering and leadership

◆ Support business development as IXR's technical lead

WHAT YOU BRING

◆ Current NETA ETT Level 4 certification

◆ About ten years of electrical testing field experience

◆ Mastery of HV apparatus, protection and control, transformer diagnostics, and commissioning

◆ Proven procedure authoring and training delivery experience

◆ Excellent written and verbal communication with technical and executive audiences

◆ Valid driver's license; travel required

NICE TO HAVE

◆ Experience supporting a NETA accreditation audit

◆ Participation in industry standards committees

◆ Generation, renewables, or distributed energy commissioning experience

◆ Instructor credentials or formal training qualifications

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Lift and carry up to 50 lb; climb ladders and work at height; confined space entry; outdoor work in all weather; extended standing and kneeling; color vision for wiring work.
