About Brikers
We're fixers. For over 20 years, Brikers has rebuilt heavy equipment components for the construction and mining industries. We dismantle whole machines (excavators, wheel loaders and rock trucks), rebuild their components to original specifications, and validate them on our in-house test equipment before they go into inventory. We take pride in what we rebuild, but we value our people most. We encourage continuous improvement, recognize and reward exceptional performance, and we're growing. That's why we're looking for you.
Position Summary
The Level 1 Cab Technician is the Cab Department's entry-level technician position. Working alongside Level 2 Cab Technicians, the Level 1 technician learns the full cab rebuild workflow: teardown, parts tracking, seals and weatherstripping, door hardware, gasket glass and testing. Independence grows task by task as competencies are signed off in the technician's Training Passport.
No previous cab experience is required. Brikers provides training for people with mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn.
The Cab Department rebuilds heavy equipment operator cab shells: the shell with its doors and windows installed. Operator seats, wiring, HVAC and hydraulics are not part of the cab refurbishment. Structural repair and ROPS/FOPS recertification are done by qualified outside fabrication vendors, and painting is done by Brikers' Paint Department.
Safety & Quality Expectations
- Follow Brikers' OHS program, safe work procedures and WorkSafeBC regulations at all times
- Wear required PPE: CSA-approved safety footwear, eye, hand and hearing protection, plus task-specific PPE
- Report all hazards, incidents, near misses and injuries to the Cab Working Leadhand immediately
- Operate forklifts, overhead cranes and powered equipment only when trained and authorized by Brikers
- Keep the work area clean and organized; good housekeeping is part of every role in the shop
- Lift and move cabs only with the overhead crane or forklift using rated lifting points and rigging; never work under a suspended cab, and support cabs on stands before working on them
- Never weld, cut, drill or otherwise modify a cab's structure; it would void the ROPS/FOPS certification
- Handle glass with cut-resistant gloves and suction cups; dispose of broken glass safely
- Use urethanes, primers, adhesives and cleaners with proper ventilation and PPE, following the SDS
- Use fall protection or a work platform when working on cab roofs
- Complete the rebuild technician QA/QC sign-off honestly and accurately; never sign off work you have not personally verified
Physical Demands & Work Environment
This role regularly requires standing and walking for full shifts, and occasionally sitting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching or crawling. The employee regularly lifts 10–50 lb; heavier parts and components are handled with an overhead crane, hoist or forklift. The role includes climbing in and on cabs, handling heavy doors and glass, overhead work, and frequent kneeling and reaching. The work environment includes moving mechanical parts, solvents, oils and hydraulic fluids, moderate to loud noise, and outdoor weather conditions during yard and core work.
