Purchaser - Manufacturing & Supply Chain

Job Overview

We are recruiting an experienced Purchaser on behalf of an established manufacturing company specializing in architectural and automatic door systems.

This is an excellent opportunity for a purchasing professional seeking a long-term career with a growing manufacturing operation. The successful candidate will initially work through a staffing agency during the probationary period, with the opportunity to transition to direct employment with the company upon successful completion of the probationary period, subject to performance and business needs.

The ideal candidate has experience purchasing materials in a manufacturing environment, managing supplier relationships, tracking purchase orders, and ensuring materials arrive on time to support production schedules.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage purchase orders from placement through delivery, ensuring accurate quantities, pricing, and timelines.
• Use Epicor ERP to manage purchasing activities, track inventory requirements, and identify material shortages.
• Source and purchase manufacturing materials, including aluminum extrusions, stainless steel, glass, fasteners, hardware, electrical components, and fabricated parts.
• Communicate with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, order confirmations, and delivery schedules.
• Monitor supplier lead times and proactively address delays that may affect production or project deadlines.
• Review Bills of Materials (BOMs), engineering drawings, and technical specifications to confirm purchasing requirements.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records, order status reports, and estimated delivery dates.
• Identify opportunities to improve purchasing costs, supplier performance, and delivery timelines.
• Coordinate with Production, Engineering, Project Management, and Warehouse teams to ensure material requirements are met.
• Assist with resolving receiving discrepancies, damaged or incorrect materials, supplier returns, and quality issues.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of purchasing experience in manufacturing, metal fabrication, architectural products, glazing, construction, or a similar technical industry.
• Experience with Epicor ERP is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of manufacturing materials, mechanical or electrical components, hardware, and fabricated parts is an asset.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong organizational, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple suppliers, purchase orders, and delivery schedules simultaneously.
• Comfortable working in both an office and manufacturing environment.
