NOW HIRING: EXPERIENCED WHEEL LOADER OPERATOR

Commercial Snow Removal | Winter Operations

Equipment: Kubota R630 Wheel Loader with Metal Pless Hydraulic Wing Plow
Experience Required: Minimum 5 years of relevant operating experience
Compensation: Competitive pay based on experience, plus standby pay
Position Type: Seasonal Winter Employment
Location: Multiple commercial properties

About the Position

We are looking for a highly experienced, dependable, and self-sufficient Wheel Loader Operator to join our commercial snow removal team for the upcoming winter season.

The successful candidate will operate a Kubota R630 wheel loader equipped with a Metal Pless hydraulic wing plow, servicing multiple commercial properties throughout snow and ice events.

This position requires more than basic equipment operating skills. We need a professional who understands commercial snow removal, knows how to work efficiently across multiple sites, communicates exceptionally well, and can coordinate directly with sidewalk crews to ensure every property is serviced safely and effectively.

Our ideal candidate takes pride in their work, respects the equipment, understands the importance of customer satisfaction, and can be trusted to complete assigned duties without constant supervision.

We are looking for an operator who takes ownership, thinks ahead, communicates proactively, and gets the job done right.

Key Responsibilities

1. Commercial Snow Removal Operations

  • Safely and efficiently operate a Kubota R630 wheel loader equipped with a Metal Pless hydraulic wing plow.
  • Clear snow from assigned commercial parking lots, drive lanes, entrances, loading areas, and other designated areas.
  • Use the hydraulic wing plow effectively to maximize clearing efficiency and minimize unnecessary passes.
  • Follow established site layouts, snow storage locations, and property-specific clearing requirements.
  • Push and stack snow in designated areas without unnecessarily obstructing entrances, fire routes, pedestrian walkways, loading zones, or parking areas.
  • Work carefully around parked vehicles, curbs, islands, light poles, bollards, landscaping, and other obstacles.
  • Maintain a high standard of workmanship, leaving properties clean, accessible, and properly serviced.
  • Adapt clearing methods to changing snowfall amounts, drifting, freezing conditions, and site-specific challenges.
  • Complete assigned work efficiently while maintaining safe operating practices.

2. Multi-Site Operations & Time Management

This position involves servicing multiple commercial properties, with travel time between sites throughout a shift.

The operator must be organized, efficient, and capable of managing their workload independently.

Responsibilities include:

  • Travel between assigned sites using the loader.
  • Understand and follow site priorities, dispatch instructions, and operational schedules.
  • Manage time effectively to ensure all assigned properties receive the required service.
  • Coordinate site visits and clearing strategies to minimize delays, unnecessary travel, and repeat work.
  • Monitor site conditions and recognize when additional clearing or attention is required.
  • Communicate completion status and any outstanding concerns to dispatch or management.
  • Take responsibility for assigned sites from arrival through completion.

The successful candidate must understand that every property has different requirements and that efficient snow removal depends on planning, judgment, and consistent execution.

3. Coordination With Sidewalk Crews

Strong teamwork and communication between loader operators and sidewalk crews are essential to successful commercial snow removal.

The operator will be expected to work collaboratively with sidewalk crews to coordinate clearing strategies and ensure all areas of each property are serviced efficiently.

Responsibilities include:

  • Communicate directly with sidewalk crew members regarding site conditions, priorities, and clearing strategies.
  • Coordinate parking lot plowing with sidewalk clearing to ensure entrances, walkways, pedestrian routes, and access points are properly serviced.
  • Discuss snow placement and stacking plans to prevent snow from obstructing sidewalks, entrances, or other areas requiring access.
  • Work together to minimize rework and ensure the property is cleared in a coordinated manner.
  • Adjust plans as weather conditions and site requirements change.
  • Maintain professional, respectful, and timely communication with team members.
  • Identify areas requiring additional attention and communicate them promptly.

We are looking for someone who understands that successful snow removal is a team effort. The loader operator must work in coordination with the sidewalk crew rather than operating independently of the overall site strategy.

4. Equipment Care & Maintenance Awareness

  • Complete appropriate pre-operation and post-operation inspections.
  • Check the machine and attachment for visible damage, leaks, unusual wear, and other potential issues.
  • Monitor hydraulic functions, cutting edges, tires, lights, fluid levels, and other critical components as appropriate.
  • Report mechanical issues or equipment damage immediately.
  • Operate the loader and hydraulic wing plow responsibly to reduce unnecessary wear and prevent avoidable damage.
  • Follow proper startup, shutdown, parking, and equipment security procedures.
  • Keep the machine in clean and orderly condition.
  • Immediately report any contact with vehicles, curbs, structures, or other property, regardless of the apparent severity.

We expect operators to treat company equipment with care and operate it as though it were their own.

5. Communication, Reliability & Accountability

Communication and dependability are non-negotiable for this position.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain clear, professional, and timely communication with management, dispatch, and crew members.
  • Remain reachable during assigned standby periods and scheduled operational shifts.
  • Respond promptly to calls and messages.
  • Provide updates on arrival, departure, site completion, delays, and any operational issues.
  • Report hazards, equipment concerns, access problems, and property damage immediately.
  • Follow instructions and established operating procedures.
  • Take responsibility for assigned duties without requiring repeated reminders.
  • Arrive on time, prepared, and ready to work.
  • Maintain a professional attitude during demanding shifts and challenging winter conditions.

We need someone management can count on without having to repeatedly follow up to determine whether a job has been completed.

6. Independent Work & Self-Sufficiency

This position requires an operator who can work independently without constant supervision or micromanagement.

The successful candidate must be capable of assessing conditions, making sound decisions, and managing assigned responsibilities with minimal direction.

We expect the operator to:

  • Understand commercial snow removal practices and apply experience to real-world site conditions.
  • Work confidently and independently within established site instructions and company procedures.
  • Plan ahead and determine efficient clearing strategies.
  • Manage multiple sites and changing priorities without losing track of required work.
  • Recognize potential issues and take appropriate action before they become larger problems.
  • Communicate proactively instead of waiting for management to request updates.
  • Know when to make an independent decision and when to contact management for direction.
  • Take ownership of the quality and completion of assigned work.

We are not looking for someone who needs babysitting. We are looking for an experienced professional who knows their equipment, understands the job, communicates well, and can be trusted to deliver results.

7. Standby Availability & Winter Scheduling

This position includes standby pay in addition to compensation for operational work, in accordance with the agreed-upon compensation and scheduling arrangements.

Candidates must understand that commercial snow removal is weather-dependent and requires flexibility.

Expectations include:

  • Remain available and reachable during assigned standby periods.
  • Respond promptly when contacted by dispatch or management.
  • Be prepared to mobilize when required for snow and ice events.
  • Be available for overnight, early-morning, weekend, and holiday work as required by the winter schedule.
  • Be prepared for extended shifts during significant snow events, subject to applicable work and rest requirements.
  • Communicate availability issues as early as possible.
  • Follow established reporting, mobilization, and operational procedures.

Standby rates, operational compensation, scheduled coverage periods, and response expectations will be clearly discussed before employment begins.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant heavy equipment operating experience, preferably in commercial snow removal.
  • Proven ability to operate a wheel loader safely and efficiently in winter conditions.
  • Strong understanding of commercial parking lot plowing and snow stacking techniques.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
  • A reliable, professional, and accountable work ethic.
  • Ability to manage multiple assigned sites and changing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Reliable personal transportation for travelling to reporting locations and between assigned sites as required.
  • Availability for standby coverage and irregular winter hours.
  • Ability to work outdoors in cold temperatures, snow, wind, and reduced visibility.
  • Appropriate driver's licence for any driving duties performed.
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience operating a Kubota R630 wheel loader.
  • Experience using a Metal Pless hydraulic wing plow or a comparable hydraulic wing-plow attachment.
  • Previous experience servicing commercial plazas, industrial properties, large parking lots, or multi-site snow removal contracts.
  • Experience coordinating with sidewalk crews and managing site-specific clearing strategies.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and the ability to identify equipment issues.
  • Familiarity with dispatch systems, GPS applications, digital work logs, and site documentation.

What We Offer

  • Standby pay in addition to operational compensation, according to the agreed-upon arrangement.
  • Competitive compensation based on experience and qualifications.
  • The opportunity to operate professional commercial snow removal equipment.
  • Clear operational expectations and site-specific instructions.
  • A professional working environment where reliability, communication, and quality workmanship are valued.
  • The opportunity to work with an experienced team serving commercial properties throughout the winter season.
  • Potential future seasonal opportunities for operators who demonstrate outstanding performance and dependability.

They understand that commercial snow removal requires preparation, sound judgment, efficient equipment operation, and consistent communication. They can move between sites, coordinate with sidewalk crews, manage their time, and complete assigned work without needing someone constantly looking over their shoulder.

They take pride in the quality of their work, respect customer property, care for the equipment, and understand that every snow event requires teamwork and accountability.

We value operators who show up when needed, communicate clearly, solve problems, and consistently deliver the standard of service our customers expect.
